e-BEAM Beam E4 > BEAM Name on Tail Boom

I have just received my kit today, I noticed that in the tail boom we can read 'BEAM Best Expert Acquired Man' and not 'BEAM Beautifully Engineered Action Machine'.

Can I take it for grant that it is related to an old kit and if so,is there any difference between one or another ?

Hi there !

I've bought it from a distributor in Belgium, RCMarket.com. Nice service and price compatible for Europe.

I will attach a picture soon.

Hmmm, mine is the same as everyone else's. Could you post a pic of this - it is definitely a rare variant so far.

Wow. I'm not even sure I know what that phrase is trying to express. Anyone want to try and decode that poor translation?

Well my Beam E4 was bought in Belgium this week. I will probably have it finished tomorrow.

Mine also came with the main blades white all over.

For those willing to see the phrase on the tail boom, please find a photo below.

I don't know if that is a newer or older version of the BEAM. Nevertheless I am very pleased with the building and the quality of the product. Let's see how it progresses.

The "Best Expert Acquired Man" slogans were on the first run of kits to my knowledge. All three kits I purchased last year have this statement on them.

I'm not sure of any differences that may exists in the kits.

It is really true that the phrase is a bit weird. So much true that I had never read it under this angle... I agree it is a bit gay propaganda, no offense. Other than that the kit is really nice to build and I have just finished all the hardware except for the electronics. Will continue tomorrow. I have to pause now, wife imposes...

Looks like you got a Beam 402 kit instead of an E4 kit.
I wouldn't worry too much about at as there is no difference in material/structural design.
However you should check whether your main grips are the ones that have thrust bearings or not. I have the 2 types of grips but honestly i cant feel any difference in flight with or without the thrust bearings.

Thanks Helirulz for the information

I have seen the thurst bearings on mine. Other than that everything states E4 and I am not worried about that but just curious.

The kit was excellent to build. I still have the electronics to finish and flight set-ups.

The only thing I did not like so far is that my swash plate is not totally free therefore I will have to work it out a bit to make it the way I like. It seems that some E4 need to have a small treatment to be as soft as it should. But this is minor.

I hope to be able to fly it within the next days, if not today for a hover test flight.

Hey all, here is an explanation as to the B.E.A.M. acronym Best Expert Aquired Man. It's really coming from a Korean cultural nuance and you wouldn't understand it unless you lived there for a while. The translation is understood and thought to be very cool to the Koreans and the producer automatically thought that the entire world would relate to it the same way. It's not any different than things that are thought to be cool or trendy in any culture, society or country. Before I left Korea in May last year I did meet with Mr. Lee (the designer of the BEAM) at the factory near Inchon, South Korea. We discussed many things about the BEAM and how to market it internationally. I told him that the name was fine but that it would be viewed as wierd if the name had to mean something in the form of an acronym and I told him that the acronym Best Expert Aquired Man would not go over well in the U.S. I guess he took part of my advice and changed the acronym to say what it says now. The tail booms are the same.

If any of you ever get a chance to go to Korea to fly go for it. They really have a great brotherhood of pilots there and they were always very nice to me and fun to fly with. I'll be going back for a visit in June.

Thanks a million for this explanation.

I figured out that it was kind of something badly translated into English and as you mentioned, the phrase would mean much more to them than to the rest of the world.

But what really matters is that this heli is a great machine.

I flew mine two times and only minor touch-ups were necessary to put it right on the track. Very good conception, simple and enjoyable to fly and build. I may get a second one just for the pleasure to put the parts together and make it alive and fly.

When you are back there in June, let them know that many people here are enjoying the machine.

You are right, it's a great helicopter. Too bad some people won't give it a fair try because it is made in Korea.

Yeap, I fly my BEAM 100% stock including the blades, paddles and tail blades. The machine is the smoothest running heli I have ever owned. I have two BEAMs and they are both set up identically and they fly exactly the same. To back up what psawyer said I must note that the BEAM is not the only cool design I saw when I was in Korea. There is some real ingenuity there and I think it will become more obvious in the near future. Keep your eyes and minds open.
