e-Hirobo SRB Quark - Lepton - XRB Coaxial > Larger and stronger main gear for Lepton ?

Hi all,
I have been developing the powertrain on my 3dx-500 for use with 6s a123 and have so far made 110t and 120t main gears, the next stage is to make a small batch of 130t mains, these gears are 6mm thick and they are machine cut delrin, If anyone would like to try one on a Lepton drop me a PM. These will be 79.2 mm od. so you would need to modify the frame to get it to fit.

I am definitely interested! Can you post the ODs of the different gears? I would like to know if the 110t gear can fit with no mod to the frames.

This opens up so many options!

Thanks,

Occy

I'm kinda' interested in 110T also...... The thing about the Lepton is that for bigger diameter main gear, there's possibility it may rub on the canopy as well......

I'm interested in seeing how you made and cut them etc. I saw the pics when you first posted and would really like to see how the Delrin is machined. Is the machining of them why they cost so much to replace...

I have been making limited quantities of machine cut Delrin 3dx/hdx 500 gears for myself and others on RCgroups for a while now, I was interested to see if there was any requirement from Lepton users. I have just finished a batch of 130t which are now all sold. I have 2 110t left from a previous batch, the price for which would be $16each + $6 shipping worldwide. The picture below shows a 120t gear fitted to my 3dx500 with an 18t pinion, the modifications required were to slot the motor mount holes and file the frames to accept the larger gear.
The 110t gear is 67.2 mm OD, the 120t gear is 73.2 mm OD and the 130t gear is 79.2 mm od. If you either post here or PM me with your required gear size I will consider making further batches of gears.

PM sent. I will buy several if autoair makes gears with a 60.5 mm OD.
this will allow a wider range of pinions for the lepton.

An OD of 60.5 mm would give a 99t gear, this won't help much with higher kV motors but would be much stronger than stock since my gears are 6mm thick and use all of the pinion. I would still advise a minimum of 110t however.

Just the larger diameter would help because the trex500 pinions that are lower than 18t would be able to reach the gear. Currently the smallest pinion I can use is an 18t pinion, wich limits the motors I can use to 1000 kv and below.
