Any new news on the Eolo? Has anyone had a chance to put it through its paces? What Batt's are you using? LiPolys? Sure looks like a winner. Where can these be purchased in the USA?

Eolo

The heli is aready in the market, and yes, looks like a winner,,,
see the previous posts, you will be able to see the comments.
mostly people fly 8-10 cells, and also the new pinions are released, so you able to tune the heli even more.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Alex, I went to the Robbe USA site, but no prices are listed. Is Robbe selling product direct? If not, who is selling them? Thanks!

DMShanks,

Robbe USA just got 80-100 kits instock,
Robbe USA is on there way to the Toledo show today and will be selling EOLOs there....

I think that robbe USA/HUI will be reachable Tuesday after he gets back from Toledo if you want to order one...

Got to check out the kit today, I must say it looks like one of the best E heli's I have seen in a long time.

We were flying them at Toledo. A great ship. It is solid as well, makes use of lots of metal parts!! The only current problem is the lack of 3D blades for it, but I am sure that will change. 8 cells were producing about 12 minutes of flight time.

All the best,
Steve.

12 mins. of flight? Lovely, I wish mine can does that as well. Could you advise what motor, battery and ESC used?

I seen somewhere that the MS 390 carbon blades for Voyager E can be used in Eolo. Has anybody tried that?

Many Thanks,

Chris

""""I seen somewhere that the MS 390 carbon blades for Voyager E can be used in Eolo. Has anybody tried that?"""""

yes MS voyager e blades work but you need to enlarge the bolt hole and remove root dia material....but Vince Hayward at MS usa is getting in this week EOLO CF sym. blades( same as the voyager blades but with the proper bolt hole and root dia.

So is the Eolo the same basic size as the JR voyager? I was thinking it was a bit smaller.

close in size maybe a tad smaller
the stock blades on the eolo are 365, the ms voyager blades are 395, the 395 blades just make it on the eolo...

Mckoi, thanks. So we need to determine the best brushless to use to take advantage of the MS blades! Has anyone tried ten cells yet?

david ,
I'm experimenting with 10 cells now with a hacker c40-9L , I have had some issues where the 40 amp ESC over heating, and I measured how many amp the heli is drawing and it draws about 15-25 amps, what I think the problem is , is that when I put on the canopy there is no airflow over the ESC , so you might want to becarful when you fly with the canopy on...I'm going to cut a larger hole to get air flow over the ESC and see what happends...I also am experimenting with differnt pinions to try to get the head speed in the 1900 range, I had the 16 tooth on today and I was still over 2000, I will be trying the 15t tomorrow.
I also would suggest that if you are exsperimenting with 10cells that you get a Ultimate BEC from cool flight http://www.koolflightsystems.com/products1.htm
this is good insurance if you esc cuts out

the 10 cell pack I'm using is a smaller cell 1700 pack to keep the weight down, I 'm trying to simulate the voltage of a future poly lith packs, when the poly lith packs become available they will be the weight of the 8 cell packs with the voltage of the 10 cell, and last 15-25 mins
Flight energy says they will be available in about 4 weeks
http://www.flightenergy.com/

I just recieved from kontronik a new twist 3300 and 3700(fun480) and smile and beat 40 amp esc to test also ...as I test them I will post which I like best..

One thing I think this heli needs is a boom support of some kind , I see in several eolos with to much vertical play and vibration. other than that this heli is awsome!!!

I reckon your on the right direction: increase the overall gear ratio(using pinion with less no. of teeth) will lower the head speed assuming other things remain the same. The motor should draw less current that might improve your ESC overheating problem.

For the 10cells battery, is it too much (I mean the size) to this little thing? and have you tried the B40 series Hacker motor. I'm looking for the right Hacker as well. So far I prefer the 9L but don't know which (C40 or B40) is better. What is the difference between B40-9L and C40-9L anyway?

Cheers

Chris

the b40 and the c40 from what I'm told except for the case, the c40 is a more robust cnc alum housing with the heat sink built into it and the mounting hold fit the eolo w/o any adaptor plates, the b40 is covention construction with a can and 2 end caps , go with the c40 it will hold up alot better in a crash ..also look at the new kontronik "twist" 3300 or 3700 that are contructed in the same manner as the c40's with the same mounting

yes a full size 10 cell pack is to big and heavy...I went with 1700 short cell packs...duration is short but when the poly lith become available they should drop in with out any changes to my configeration and they will be lighter and give me 3x-4x more duration of spirted 3d flight..

They were flying the heli stock. Perhaps the Robbe charger they were using was the solution!!! They were not hammering the heli, and had the stock blades. They were just hovering around and small amounts of forward flight.

I know someone that has bought 10 cell Nickel Metal batteries, and an engine from "Castle Creation?" (Forget the name), don't know the model, I will let you know how it works out when he has it finished and tested.

All the best,
Steve.
