Here is one of my favourite films on youtube I love the backyard nature of the development work carried out by these college guys!!

Stick with this video folks, because although the narrator is a bit dead pan, he does get to the point and the end IS very worth waiting for! Because folks if you really do love turbines as I do, watching the end of this will probably age you by 50 years, and then you will wet yourself, because it's bloody fantastic!! I know I did.

that is an Awsome video,

talk about Neightbours from hell, i laughed when he said the engine sound echoed up the valley and many people came down thinking a jet had crashed LOL,

MAD, but wow what a toy to have, i wonder what they moved on to now..

Then on one of the video comments it takes you to rockets, and there is an Australian guy standing beside a 10 ft model of the space shuttle complete with ET and SRB's...

Those guys have got nerves and very understanding neigbours

utube engine

back in the 60's they had these or similiar turbines lined up along the main runways at heathrow prior to CAT III approaches.

They tried to elevate the temp to change the dewpoint thus lifting the fog. That is when fuel was 20 cent per gallon (in NA).

Guess the Concord was retired at the right time ;>

How times have changed.............

There was a seller on e-bay selling a fully restored, ready to run, trailer-mounted Rolls-Royce Derwent and the electronics to run it, late last year. Listing stated it was fitted with the RAF runway snow-blowing nozzle but could be changed to the thrust nozzle very easily.

... failed to get a single bid at only £400 GBP!

Coolrunnin are you sure, only £400?
I would have paid £400............... mind you I suppose running it on the trailer might overwhealm the hand brake on the Smart Car somewhat.

Their early models look really cool! I'd so love to have one of them Frankestein turbines.

Yep, no bids at £400 quid so minimum first bid would have been £410.

I will admit to mentally scheming up a plan at the time involving a suitable hole in the rear doors of my van, an air-scoop on the roof and attempting to re-register the vehicle as a tax-exempt hybrid

No way am I going to be reaching inside that thing on startup. You would think they would figure out a remote start, and on casters too !!
