Here's some pics that I found on the RJX Hobby website. These look really good. It's nice to know that RJX not only listens to the customers, but pays attention to current trends too.

Flybarless head

New main rotor head (looks like 8mm spindle) and that it clamps to the main shaft too

I just noticed the 3mm flybar kit. Why would anyone want to downgrade to 3mm?

Really don't get that one.....

I have gone to a 3mm fly bar ages ago..... Much faster cyclics due to the weight

You are correct, the whole idea behind the 3mm flybar assy. is not a down grade, it is a faster cyclics set up. RjX is just offering people different ways to get the cyclic feel they want.

I find the stock spindle pretty strong, or maybe i haven't flown it hard enough

It's been holding up fine for us, but there have been customers that have asked for it and RJX has stepped up, goes to show everyone that RJX listens to its customers

Rusty,

Elaborate more on 3mm vs 4mm flybar theories please...

A 3mm flybar is lighter and a lighter flybar means quicker cyclic response.

But that raises the question- why did the Xtreme go with the 4mm in the first place??? I'm sure there was a sound design criteria for it.

And why do 90s use a 4mm flybar?

4mm on a 50 is for stability
3mm will is for faster cyclics

3mm will not work on a 90 size heli. it will just bend/flex to much.

Sounds reasonable.

But what about stiffness? If the 3mm flexes too much, then you will not get the response out of the paddles, and cyclic speed will suffer.

And like you said, 4mm is for stability - and I think we can all agree the Xtreme was not designed for stability, it was designed for 3D, so why design it with a 4mm flybar??

thanks!
As ink said it really is quite simple, Stable virses cyclic speeds.
there really isn't a big reason for the 3m conversion just giving another option.

Rock,

As many here will attest, Steven tossed his X50 around in New Orleans two weeks ago, and they will also tell you that he doesn't BABY his machine, it fly's absolutely FANTASTIX with the 4mm flybar, His 600N also flys great with a 3mm flybar, so what ever floats your boat... I for one will NOT be putting a 3mm flybar on the X50 it flys plently fast enough and Steven makes his machine look GREAT, I'm not changing a thing, he just fills it up and burns fuel and flys it as hard as everyone saw in NO as he does playing around on the weekend, Interlink, Steve L, and Charley Stephens can all vouch for that at our home field.

There were some customers modifying there machines to put a 3mm flybar on, the manufacturer decided to accomadate us with one for the ones that want to go that route. it's NOT a big deal really

Personally I like the 4mm flybar! I think 3mm is too flimsy, especially with the longer flybars.

I maintain that there must be some compromise for stiffness and efficiency of transmitting the control of the paddles to the head. Otherwise we would all be flying 1mm flybars!

I'm certainly keeping my 4mm flybar - I think it's the perfect compromise between stiffness and quickness.

I do believe that Synergy went a bit far with the 5mm flybar. One more millimeter and you have a very long spindle! You could use that thing for weight lifting. Thus all the pilots who have swapped that out for a more common 4mm bar.
