I have just acuired a 1/4 scale jet turbine jetranger..

One of this biggest things i have found on large models is the lack of tail authrotiy when used in conjuction with modern gyro's

I was reading with interest in the latest MHW mag under the Mikado section in the Numberg write up, that the V-stabi uses a 3 axis gyro control system, which negates the need for a rudder tail Gyro,

Would this system work on a model that swings 2.5 meter blades ?

And does it work in Heading hold ?

It would look a lot more scale like if it had a flybarless system..

the gyro on the v system will still work in the same manner as a seperate gyro on the tail. its no difrent. is all the v system is doing is adding an extra two gyros for the cyclic movements (to control the flybar less head). the gyro on tha tail from the v system is still doing the same job as a seperate gyro would. the only way to improve the tail response is to either play around with the setting or to buy a gyro that is more suited to your flying.

No Problem at all.

A friend useses the VStabi at all 3 axis of a Vario Turbine Big Jet Ranger (also 2,50m).

For Setup you should use the easyPanel plugin and ther switch big scale 12 kg Heli. Then lower the agility to 50 and at expert elevator/aileron the hiller to 20.

For tail part there are 4 presets at the easyPanel. We use the scale gyro for this kind of helis.

Heliplanet - thanks for your input as well, like a normal gyro does this have a Heading lock mode ? or is it normal flight permanently..

I am afraid i do not know much about this and the article in the mag only gave a brief over view of the capabilites of this piece of equipment.

The Tail part of VStabi is full configurable as well.

To make it easy for our customers, i designed the easyPanel plugin for the VSatbi Software.

Here you can choose between 4 presets:

- VStabi tail (hard 3D heading gyro)
- 401 gyro (like a 401 in heading)
- weak tail (scale gyro with weak heading)
- rate mode gyro (non - heading)

If you want to have other tail behaviour, no problem. We will help you.

And for all ... you can choose the modes during the flight with our bank switching.

thanks a lot for the info, i just realized from your posts that you are the creator of this device - Well done.

Where in the Uk can these be obtained ? do you have a chain of sellers in each country,


and i forgot to add --- Where can you get hold of flybar less head that will swing 2.5 meter blades ? i dont want a vario head.

Ask your local rc heli shop, he should be able to order one there for you.

The other question ... use a stiff head with stiff dampeners and blades. I don't know what will be best there.
