I take it you haven't heard from him yet? How does the USPS money order help you dealing with this guy? I live in Oregon about 40 miles from the address he gave you. I will keep my eyes open for him and if I hear anything locally I will let you know.

His profile is not brand new and he has a good amount of posting plus two positive feedbacks as a seller. The guy could be in the hospital, out of town, or, sadly, he could be dead. It's been known to happen. It is frustrating and I wouldn't hesitate to go forward as you plan but I'm going to bet there isn't intentional fraud going on here. Good luck and keep us posted.

I remember a deal I made with, actually, a very good friend from these boards. I did not hear from him for sometime and thought I'd PM him. I received a reply back from his wife telling me that he had passed away. My jaws dropped because I wouldn't have thought of death as the reason he wasn't contacting me.

Just thought I'd share the experience.

Thanks guys. I've been doing deals here on RR for years, but there just something about this deal that stinks. He was available before I sent him the money, he even had a couple of guys bump the ad a few times.

Our agreement was for him the ship the package USPS priority mail the day he received the payment, he even said he'd get me a tracking # the day he ships.

As soon as I PMed him that the payment was sent, the story began to change. Now he's working the late shift, but he'll have his wife ship and so on.

On the 20th of March, he sent me a PM that the package has been shipped USPS priority, and that I will receive it the following Tuesday or Wednesday. On the Wednesday, when the package didn't arrive, I sent him a PM informing him and requested the tracking # he promised. He replied me that he will get me the tracking #, but that the package was shipped "ground" and may take a few more days. Whatever "ground" means.

Since then, I haven't heard from him.

It's really say, but as the saying goes, "one bad egg spoils the rest" or in this case, "a few bad eggs" I've done quite a few deals here on RR, some deals I've shipped to me even before the payment was sent, and I've shipped to some before payment was sent. It's really really sad.

A few people have had good dealings online. But it seems the past year ot so its more and more getting scamed. I myself cant see taking the chance on it. Sad but true anymore these days more and more people are out to rip people off for a few bucks. It dont just happen online either I have seen a few uninformed people buy rc stuff and get burnt buying used. Like I said before good luck I hope you recover your money or items. I wished I lived by that guy I would go knock on his door for you.

Back when I was into helis heavy (I'm back now), when I ordered I always had stuff shipped COD. Money order or cash with a receipt from the driver. Why don't people handle this in this manner. Would seem to aleviate all payment/shippping problems. Whaddya think??

I did a lookup on Mike's phone number, and attempted to contact him (4/4/08 @ 9:45 AM). I spoke to his wife, Shelly, who seemed very nice. She explained that they are going through some difficult times right now (ill child), and she was going to contact Mike right now to have him ship it our or provide the tracking number. She was very apologetic for the matter in how this has been handled, and said she would take care of it.

I left her my phone number in the event Mike cannot post online (no/troubled internet connection at the moment); so he can call me with that information and I will post it here for you montarok.

Shelly called me back and said that she had spoke to Mike.

Mike indicated that he has two packages of items to be sent out, and one was sent a few days ago (Shelly thought he sent it originally, but it came back, etc; but never-the-less she indicated it was a few days ago it went). He still has one more package to send, and he indicated it would go by Fed-Ex.

Once he gets home from work tonight, he would email me the tracking number from the package he recently sent.

Fraud Pattern

It is always the same pattern. They take the money and disappear (no answer to PM's, etc). The next step are the stories or excuses. The person become sick or a family member or is having terrible financial problems. The end of the story is that you have been scammed.

I have been in your position and frustration is what you purchase.

He only has today, 04/05/08 for my complete package to arrive. If my complete package doesn't arrive today, Monday morning I'm filling a report with the Postal Inspectors, if he doesn't know who they are, he's find out real soon.
