That's interesting, so are the dimensions of the newer bearing the same? What's different to make them incompatible with the older part?

WOW

that looks pretty rusted up, the only time i have ever seen something like that was someone who run a certain type of fuel ...and was not drying his engine out after the final run of the day..

I assume you have been running your engine dry after the final run of the day ?

I remember talking to Dave Wilshire of Motors and rotors, and he said he has known bearings to fail within a month, it depends on how the engine was stored after it was made etc, whether moisture go it in and rusted the innards...

Good you will have a new engine, i am very happy with my SR engine, certainly gives a lot of punch, i flew 8 tanks on weds and 4 on Thursday
am very happy with the performance, people in my club commented on the smooth sound and quietness of the engine...

Hi Matt,
Which kind of fuel do you use with your SR engine?
Is the mix of 30% Nitro and 23-25% Klotz 198 oil that bad. I just only want to use COOLPOWER in the future for my YS Engines.

PS Which glow plug do you use?

Regards,
Dave

I'm also using 30% Coolpower with an OS8 plug - Loves it!

I use 20% coolpower and OS 8plug,

I did use on my YS ST to begin with 4 yrs ago an F8 plug and 10%, but the engine would never run consistently, i changed over to the 20% and an OS8 and i have never had any problems,

Even with my old ST engine that i said was running rough i took it apart and the piston was fine and still silver no rust at all... all i could think of was i must have had some muck in the inline check valve, cos my new engine is running superb with all new tubing and filters....

Hope this info helps

Matt
