What are you guys using for blades on the trainer? I've got a semi symmetrical 800 and it likes to pitch up on ff and not very stable in hover.
this bird is going on a scale ship. thanks
set up is benzin with long boom 502 rc230 fut 9250

The best flying main blades I have used on my Benzine's (AP/AV cameraships) is the MAH 850. Not sure if these would fit with your scale body though?

thanks Paul. I'll do some measuring. Any other input out there?

For scale applications the semis would be more of the way to go to me. They are more stable and have better lift characteristics. I have noticed that do have a "balooning" affect for camera ships when trying to take still shots on breezy days but the lift is great.
If you feel you're being moved around a little to much on your Benzin with the semi blades try using the harder O rings and one thick, and thin shim on each side of the head. This made my UH 1D feel very solid using a 815mm scale blade from ECSH.
If you still don't like the feel try the Vario 422 symetrical blades with the same head set up.

chris can you give me the part numbers for the o rings and shim. i flew in 10-15 mph wind today and the heli was balooning quite a bit.
also, what's your recommended head speed? i'm running 1250 on the governor and it seems a little slow and sluggish. thanks.

The problem I have had with the 421 blades is that they can tuck under during auto style descents. The 422 blades I now run fly much nicer but really do not load the engine enough for my needs as they were designed for the Acrobatic with its 7.52:1 gear ratio running at 1400 head speed. They have a thin section but having said that, they are highly preffered over the 422 blades.
SAB 810 mild S blades are a better bet than 421's. My now retired set gave me good service for years and flew very well indeed.

The O-ring is 74/10 and the shimms are 90990 for the thick and 90970 for the thin.
The blades I'm talking about are the 419's. I fly mine at 1150. In pod n boom form I flew it around 1250 with the 421's but in the scale body and additional weight I liked the lowere headspeed and handling of teh 419's.
Once you change the o rings and shims you should notice a difference.

I really like my 810 V blades on my trainer with all the AP gear. I went flying with a buddy who was using the 422's and we both flew each other's similarly setup Benzin's and they both felt about the same.
In fact I think John is now flying the Benzin that me and Jeff were comparing the V blades and the 422's back when Jeff owned it.
The Benzin is a great flying helicopter and symmetrical blades with tighter head dampening as Chris suggested really makes a great difference.

thanks guys. i'm going to try the harder o rings first, then try the blades. i think 800 mm blades will be too long for me. it's going on a apache with the raised t/r.

You'll need the 800mm blades for that ship and the 90:18 gear ratio.
