| Hey Busyflyin, Check these out... they are cheap 1w Luxeons for just over $5 each: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1302 The tough question is how do you mount these things?
I purchased mine from a fellow on Ebay some time ago... and paid much more than $5 each. They have certainly come down in price since.
Ok... I got a beta "Mini-Beacon" all built (above), including circuitboard and all.. and all I can say is Cooollll! Check out the video and tell me what you think. I etched just a few sample boards (4) so if any one is interested, let me know. Are the sequences enough? Any recommendations? The board has two jumpers, one for programming the sequence (1 out of 12) and another for allowing the mini-beacon to be operated (on/off) either from a spare receiver channel or stand-alone (or via Mini-Flash output using a 2-pin header).

I also put together a quick 30 amp R/C switch too (above)... This can power up almost anything, or be used to power your glow-plug, landing lights, spot light, high amperage motor or any other high amperage load. If you plan to control 5v, low current loads, a jumper allows you to use the Receiver power for powering your switched load (normally, you would use a seperate power source for powering your high current device).

By the way, on both of these new PCBs, you'll notice I socketed the PICs. The production versions will obviously not have these as the PIC will be soldered into place. I built these shown mainly for testing/modding).
