e-Century Hummingbird - Swift > 8s Packs Too Heavy???

Hey guys, want some feedback about the Airthunder 14.8v 5000mah batteries on a Swift 620. They weight approximately 527 grams each so that results in a total battery weight of 1,054 grams. Are these packs too heavy? Other options? what kind of flight time should I expect with 5000mah batteries, just hovering and flying basic manuvers. Ill be running a Century 650a 800kv motor, 12t pinion w/ a CC 85hv also with MS 600mm blades. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks
Eric

Eric, I'm running 10S A123 packs in my Swift 16, and they come in at 775g. Most people think that's too heavy, but I'm satisfied with the performance (see video below). Since the Swift 620 is somewhat larger and has more disk area (I'm running 550s) you can probably use those packs as long as the CG works out OK.

8S lipo packs will give about the same voltage under load as my 10S A123, and I can hit 2000 rpm headspeed with a 10T pinion on my 680kv Neu 1910/1.5Y! So I think you will want a 9T pinion for your 800kv motor to keep the headspeed within reason assuming the 620 has the same gearing as the Swift 16.

I get a solid 6 minutes (with reserve) from my 10S A123 (2300 mah) so 4000 or 5000 mah lipos should give you 8+ minutes of normal flight without pushing them too hard.

-Chris

I have 8S 4000, they are ~790g and it flies great with them on 620 and 600 blades.

What kind of flight times with the 4000's?

11-15 minutes. Depends on condition & balance of the batteries/governor-or not and lubrication of the bearings. Today on my scale swift it was ~11minutes, 3300-3500 mah back. But the batteries are a getting old and I need to clean the bearings up, I only do scale flying. 11 minutes are fine with me :-) But I remember getting consistently 14 minutes of flight time before without governor and scale body.

Thanks guys for the input. I did find some batteries that aren't so heavy. They are the Thunder Power extreme 4s 4600mah batteries. It think they are 100 grams less. What would be the minimum C rating for my setup? The TP Batteries are 22C constant.

Thanks
Eric

I run the flight power 3200 in an 8s setup in my phazor and flight times are good and wieght is awesome.Plus they are rated at 96 amps cont and 192 peak. No problems over heating them doing hard 3D.And they are small enough to put under the canopy .Out of harms way.
