Blades, Night Flying and Painting > 550mm Main blades,, not alot of "real good" choices out there....

I guess this is abit of a rant really....

Sure the Rotortech are "ok", Maniac 553 are not to stellar imho, the Mavrick G5 are "ok" and well the TT550s are barky but not alot of pop behind their bark imho.

Why is it that Radix and Vblades still to this date have not got into the 550mm main blade game? Surely there is enough demand to make them ????

Same goes for the 425mm as we know it,,, I am abit suprised how long it has been and still now no Radix or Vs in the 425mm either....

I agree. I would think there would be a good market for 550 blades. Come on radix we need 550 blades.

what about SAB blades? They have a 550 available.

V blades used to make a 550. I have a set. I wonder why they don't make them any more.

I've got a set of the "old" 550mm V-blades. They fly awesome but they're murderous on the pack/ESC/motor. Just in a hover they draw 10% more current and in fligth it jumps dramatically. The trade off however is night & day for flight performance. I would really like to see more 550mm choices from Radix and/or V-blades in TST format. As mentioned above, SAB 550mm blades are pretty slick and very efficient. I haven't tried Rotortech yet, but I'm contemplating a set of 560's to try.

I wonder if this has to do with the chord of the blades. The MAH are the thinnest and the Vblades are the thickest.

The SAB 0320 550mm carbon blade is the most popular choice over here at the moment. No experience of them myself however.

The 560 rotortechs fly very good, they are lighter than the 550's,They are simular to the 610 rotortechs.

I've flown the G3 Mavrikks and they flew like dog poo- slow and steady. Great for learning without having to use wood blades. The SAB's I tried flew very well and drew less amps- very smooth and efficient. The Helimax 570's I just tried auto a little better than the SAB's (they are longer remember) and they seem to be a little stiffer/faster with more bark and quick response. I just put them on this week and haven't done a back to back set of flights and data logging comparing them with the other blades yet. V-blades keep promising to make 550's when they get around to them, but never seem to do. Maybe you should call them up and request several sets for them to start a run?
