Got my beam kit today. The canopy is white/silver/black. The blades are all white, not white/purple. And the head is put together. I will be taking the head apart to check it. I also ordered a clear canopy and it's clear yellow...lol Does any one else have a kit like this

Your white canopy looks just like mine but nothing was put together on mine. My instruction book assumed you will be assembling all the parts on the head. What does your instruction book say, does it reflect the fact that your head is partially assembled? One other thing, on both of my kits the box was sealed with a sticker, was yours?

Looks like this clear canopy is yellow like yours:

The box was sealed with the sticker. The instruction book does not call out the fact that it is assembled. But thank goodness that the head has thrust bearings. The book shows with and with out thrust bearings

I spoke to soon. the grips are missing some of the parts for the thrust bearings. I guess I will be calling Advantage hobby monday. Here's a pic of what the grips have in them

on mine the other part of the thrust bearing was already in the grip. The two pieces you have pictured were sealed in a bag. Look inside the grip and you should see the other part of the thrust bearing race. If you remove it there should be a spacer underneath the thrust bearing race.

It's missing the spacer,8x0.5mm and the washer that is on the other side of the thrust bearing. One of the ny-loc nuts is bad. the nylon part is not crimped around the nut.I guess I will go thru the whole kit to see what else is missing. This build is not getting a good start.

Johnny Cat,

Your kit is from the latest batch and therefore some of the 'little things' have been addressed like the play in the flybar cage, the swash plate should now be locktighted and lubed and a few other things that go unnoticed by most have been addressed.

The blades are the exact same spec. as the pink ones and come from the same mold; they do however come from a different manufacturer.

The clear canopy (yellow) is the same one that is used in the pre-painted ones available from Advantage. It is NOT intended to be painted from the inside like a car body. As you probably noticed from holding it in our hand, it is very lightweight and Beam claims it to semi-indestructible....can't attest to this as everything has a breaking point!

As for the Thrust Bearings....All US kits come with this important feature. We have been working with Beam to figure out the best way to supply the kits. Some pilots want to assemble the head on their own and others want it all finished, we can't seem to please everyone. Because of this constant flux, the instruction manual has not yet been updated to reflect the current state of assembly. As all have noticed, there are instruction supplements in each kit. Soon the manual will catch up with the state of the design and
supply.

But here's a question for you. In your first post you mention that the head came assembled and you would be disassembling it "to check it." If this is the case, was it missing the spacers etc. when assembled at the factory?

We apologize if your kit is missing parts, please contact us at Advantage and we will make it right immediately.

Beam Helicopters.....Thank you for the info and your reply. yes the thrust bearing are missing the spacer and the washer that goes next to the bearing. The picture of the grips that i posted is all that is in there. If I had not checked the head I would of had a grip coming off the first time i fly it. One of the nylon lock nuts is bad. It was on hand tight because the nylon part is not cripped around the nut.IMO the heads should not come assembled for this reason. I will call Advantage tomorrow...thanks again for your reply

hey vic....I talked to Advantage hobby today and it turns out I did not look close enough at the grips. When i took them apart only the thrust bearing and one of the washers came out.The other washer and spacer is in there , it just won't fall out. I would like to say that Advantage called me right back and took care of it. They are sending the nyloc nut that is bad. The thrust bearing is dry so all I have to do is lube it up and put a new nut on the spindle. I would recommend taking these assembled heads apart to check things out. I would of had that grip come off because of the bad nyloc nut. Big thanks to advantage for the quick service...john

At a recent funfly we went to another guy got one of these kits witht the head assembled and plain white blades. Comparing them to the purple ones they were shorter, I'd say the new ones are about the same length as the align 325 CF blades while the purple ones are longer. No biggie just thought I'd throw that in.

My yellow one is in the mail. I'm going to get some paint on it, anyone have expierence painting them?? I'm thinking paint the windshield black and then the bottom solid yellow leaving a strip of transparent yellow in the middle.
