e-Century Hummingbird - Swift > Is a 620 belt wider then a swift 16 belt?

I was have issues with my 16's tail holding doig 3D last weekend so i did the usual things tighen the belt inspected the pulleys the belt only has 60/70 flights on it still breaking loose during high pitch manuvers so i fit a set of 95mm k@b tail blades stopped the problem till it cut the front pulley in half and you know the rest of the story. joe at helliworld says you can't run that big of a blade for that reason. he also mentioned possible streched belt but when i mention the blades he said that'll happen. my question is the belt wider on the 620 if so i'll just fit the boom and belt and be done. when they come off back order.is 60/70 flights to many on a belt. have only had to tighten it 5/6 times doesn't seam to be climbing on the pulley's have a new one on the way but already have the bird back together from spare's i stock. should i replace it or am i just asking to much from the stock tail. i'm only running 530 carbon's on 6s at 2300 and 14.5 pitch doing medium 3D

Thanks ravenhyper50. I asked joe at helliworld and he couldn't tell me. I will be upgradeing to a 620 belt and boom when they come back in stock. i'm relativly new to tail belts .this is the first time i've had a problem. but i just started doing 3D a few months ago and maybe i'm cuaseing the problem so if you have any advise on tail belts i would apreciate it. I have 3 nitro choppers with tail belts and no problems but they all run a nice wide belt to. the belt on the swift looks like a peice of string in comparison.

The belt doesn't have to be tight like a bow string. It uses the gear not friction to drive the tail. TimT

Cutting into your pulley means too tight...not too loose.

Over 200 flights with my 550 original belt!
The belt does not need to be as tight as you make out to have yours..
Just tight enough that it does not slip. When you spin the main blades by hand minimal energy should be lost by the tail.

If your tightening your tail belts like people do with the raptors (holding the heli by the boom and using the machines weight for pulling the belt tight) is to tight for the swift IMO.
I never heard of a belt cutting into the pulley

thats what i thought. But i had the belt skip on me and the tail just completely let loose for a couple seconds.Thats why i tightened a little more.I inspected the pulleys, but maybye after you have a skip you should just replace the pulleys.I'm pretty sure the bigger blades caused all of this.I never had any problems before.Joe at heliworld says just put the cnc tailslider on more more tail authority.but i think i'll just put the 620 boom with the wider belt on instead of just bandaiding the problem of not enough tail hold. The longer boom will help alot. plus the wider belt will allow me to run 95mm blades as i was when this all came about.I may even put on the cnc slider for good measure.I really hate when i loose the tail rotor. It allways seams to happen when your inverted or close to it.And i'm not good enough yet to save it from that position when the tail starts spinning out of control.I fly in subzero weather in northern minnesota and have experiaced this many times on my ravens when the $4.00 tail gears strip mid flight. I have since upgraded all my century nitros to metal tail gears.Problem solved. You'd be suprized the problems that come up when you fly in these temps.I heard also about booms shrinking in the cold and causing a loose belt so i keep my belted birds in the unheated shop to prevent that problem.

why are you guys running such high head speads?

running at lower head speed like 1800 with good collective management will perform just as well and even sound better, longer flights too...give it a try sometime.
