| It's been a long time since I owned a Nexus, I dug out a copy of the assembly manual, and looking at step 10 on page 9 didn't offer a lot of insight. I vaguely remember that the fan with its clutch shoes is threaed onto the crankshaft of the motor.
I found a copy of the Nexus 30 Assembly supplement manual, and there it is, on page 4, the description of what to do with step 10:
The fan IS SCREWED onto the crankshaft.
In order to remove the fan with the clutch shoes, you first need to remove the nut from the end of the crankshaft that locks the fan assembly in place.
After you do that, you need to remove the engine's backplate so you can use a crank locking tool:

to lock the crankshaft in place. Once you do that, wrap a shop towel around the fan so you can get a good grip on it, and unscrew the fan from the motor. If the thing was loctited in place (using red loctite, perhaps), you may need to heat the end of the crank a bit. Be careful if you need to use heat so you don't melt or damage anything.
Unscrew the fan, it will simply come off.
There are no collets in this assembly. Don't forget the little black washer that's underneath the fan, next to the front bearing when you reassemble the stack.
