Hey all.... quick question on building the tail rods. Did you first glue the threaded rod in the carbon rod with 10mm sticking out and then slide the metal sleeve over and glue into place? Just curious.

You may need to drill the carbon rod out some. The threaded rod fits very tightly in there and you can actually split the end of the carbon rod. I inserted the threaded rod in so that it was almost flush when the aluminum ends were glued on.

I put the alloy ends on first flush with the end of the carbon rob (not glued tho) then pushed the threaded rods in with Epoxy on them. Then Moved the alloy sleeve down the rod to let the epoxy dry, Added a bit of super thin CA to make sure, Put the ball links on then slid the alloy sleeves back up into place hard against the links. Putting the alloy on first helps brace the carbon rod stopping it from splitting when you put the threads in as they are quite tight.....

(worked for me anyway)

Sound advice.

I left too much of the threaded rod sticking out. Couldn't get my tail rod short enough then. So I had to cut some length of the threaded rod off with a dremel, in addition to using one short link on one end.

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
It was a good trade!

Well Rock i guess we are both in a similar boat then. I was exhausted from driving down to Miami and was in a hurry to finish it and what i did was put the sleeves on and THEN left 10mm out past the end of the sleeve

Talk about feeling like an idiot!! I order a new one because i didnt want to botch that one up. Thanks all....
