I have had mine @ around 2300RPM or higher using 600mm blades for several flights with no problems
600+ 9 Tooth pinion 9 cell A123 with 100% straight curve sounds deadly

Others have ran much higher

Well I have a 650a 800kv running 8s w/ a 13t pinion. Head speed approximatley 2800. Is that to much? Im used to running me Diablo 450 at 3300 and my HDX500 at 3200. Im not sure about the Swift though.

MS Composit 600mm. Is that too high of a head speed?

IMO I think that's in the danger zone for stress on the machine eg. feathering shaft threads.. Any other opinions on this..?

I've run 2500 on 530 carbon,s no problems but she is a touchy bird at that head speed i can't imagine 2800 holycow, i've since backed her down to 2300 a good compramise fast cyclic but i can see the manuvers now not just ablur. i'd say 2800 on 600's is insane just my opinion.

Other than being touchy at that speed is there a chance of the head coming apart?

Yes - 2800 on 600mm blades is asking for an in-air explosion. The energy in a 325mm blade at 2800 on a 450 size elecric is a lot differnt then on a big heli swinging 600mm blades.

So should I stay around 2400?

Actually for 600/620mm blades 2100 is a much more practical head speed. Anything over that and the fright time really goes down fast. The nitro guys only run in the 1950 to 2000 headspeed range and that gives great 3D. Anything more is just beating the air is wasting a lot of battery power.

Smaller helicopters need more headspeed in order to get the blade airspeed up. As the blade length goes up you use lower a headspeed to keep the blade airspeed about the same.
