hello all.
hope you got a chance to fly easter time.
so as a nubie and having such a bad experience with an optic 6 radio, i hope someone can recommend a good used brand or specific radio and receiver to look to buy.
how much should a good used set up cost?
i will NEVER be flying near ANY other rc devises, does my chance of having glithes go way down?
thank you

I would never buy a used radio – you are just buying someone else’s problems. If you want trouble free operation get one of the new 2.4GHz radios.

I started flying a Futaba 7C-2.4GHz radio earlier this month and it’s definitely a winner. This new technology really takes all the frustration out of flying (no glitches or interference from others).

Towerhobbies.com has $15 off deal and free shipping.

I tried a Spektrum radio but it had the famous brownout and crash problem with my Trex. I have now converted everything to Futaba FASST technology. Futaba definitely has a winner with this technology.

I agree with bts i also just switched 6 of my helis to the futaba fasst from tower. great radio, more featues then the dx7 ,definently to anybody just starting out go with 2.4 all it takes is a couple of glitch or interference caused crashes to pay for the 2.4 system plus you feel more connected with 2.4 , much less latencey. so don't wast money on an fm system when for the same moey you can be problem free.

What is the problem with the Optic 6? They are a great radio for the price. The computer control section will do as good as any other at a cheaper price and if you convert the output to 2.4 MHz then you have the best of both worlds. I just put the Futaba variant of the Spektrum module in my transmitter and got AR7000 receivers and the combination is a perfect match.
