Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Clutch stack question and trade needed

I am going through all my parts for this Stratus and notice some things don't look the same as in the assembly manual . First off , the bottom of the clutch stack , is there supposed to be a dampner of some sort on there ? Here is a pic of what I have .

Second , I have the engine adapter plates for a YS engine , I don't run YS I have a 91 Hyper . Is anyone interested in trading the YS plates for a set of OS plates ??

Last but not least , I need to replace the mainshaft bearings , I can't seem to locate a part number for them , anyone have the part numbers ? Where to buy bearings would also be a big help ? I assume MA can sell me the bearings i'm just checking for any other place to get them .

looks like you are missing the uni-ball on the clutch. It is a tan color delrin ball.

The mainshaft bearings are part number 6800ZZ - 10mmx19mmx5mm.

A good place to get bearings from is www.rc-bearings.com. Paul has good prices and service. I buy all my bearings through him.

Thanx a million angelbob www.rc-bearings.com. looks like my place .Where or for that matter can I get a uni ball,or do I have to buy the whole clutch stack ?

I looked the uniball up at Heliproz , but they show about 5 different setups and don't tell you what each one is for

Back to the engine mounting plates . I find the part number for the hyper plate as 126-32 , now the little plate that sets on top of the base plate that is the shape of the rear cover gasket is what part number ??I find the part number for the c spec application as being 126-25,is that part the same as the part needed for the hyper base plate ??

I have been searching this out for you and I do believe that the cspec and the szh do have the same bolt spacing so the engine spacer 126-25 should work. But i have been wrong before:[ if nothing else we will find out this weekend!!!!!! hope you make it Tom

Forgive me for jumping in here, but let me make sure you're both on the same page......

The C-Spec non-PS engine uses its own dedicated adapter plate. That plate is bored for the 3.5 mm backplate screws (the SZ has 3 mm screws). It also uses the extra graphite spacer you've referenced to set the proper driver gap. The PS C-Specs use the PS backplate instead of that spacer. The SZ does not use the same adapter plate, nor does it use an additional spacer. That engine requires the 126-32 alone, unless they have started using thinner carbon for the baseplate since I purchased the SZ plate that is currently pictured on the MA website.

I just bought a conversion kit for my fury to make it a stratus. I am going to be using a CSPEC with a pump. So how would I mount it. Do I mount the plate between the backplate and pump and use the adaptor ring and if so where.

Dr.Ben to the rescue , no fear in jumping in on this topic .All information is welcome and appreciated . So to clarify matters , i'm going to use a 91 Hyper so I won't need to use the little spacer that looks like a backplate gasket ? And could I take the c spec plate and drill the holes out to fit the hyper or would I be better off getting the correct plate for the hyper?Reason for asking is Tom has a mounting plate for the c spec but I have a hyper .

Jason,

Unless they've recently changed the plate, all you need is the single SZ plate.

You can effectively use any plate with any engine as long as you can get the backplate holes to line up and keep the engine centered. As long as the total height yields about a 20 thou clutch to driver gap, it'll work fine.

I got the kit for the os and I dont know what tank it comes with but I downloaded the instructions and I'm having trouble figuring out how to mount the CSPEC with a pump. Do I mount the plate between the pump and the backplate and use the spacer ring. I'd appreciate any help.
