| Tail mounted servoAbout 7-8 years ago, I had Larry Bergen make a G10 vertical fin for my Schluter Scout II. I carefully drilled two holes in it and mounted a Futaba S133 mini servo on the fin so the tail rotor was driven by a pushrod about 1 1/2 inches long with a long aileron extension back to the servo. Now S133s were not the strongest nor fastest servos in the world but I got a very dramatic increase in available gyro gain just from the decrease in system slop and friction. Since the Scout was nose heavy anyway, the tail weight turned into and asset and it was a great flying model. The one disadvantage was that every time you crashed, the servo was toast. Such is progress.
