I have a 850 kv motor running 3s2p w/ 26 pinion and I get alittle over 2300. This seems to be good for sport flying but not a 3d machine at all.... I believe a 4s would bump it up over 3000 w/ 26 pinion but a 24 would probally be around 2800

I know with at least the 450 size (3000), but i would say slightly lower for a bigger bird (2800-2900). Hopefully someone with some
3D experience will chime in and give you a real answer..

Good luck..

just got mine in the air last weekend. 790kv motor on 5s with a 19t pinion. at 2600rpm it seems a little slow/sluggish . im thinking like smcbmw 2800-2900 sounds a lot better.

Mine on 6s was turning 3000. No need to go higher, just asking for trouble after that.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Most 500 class fly 2200 to 2400 basic, 2400 to 2600 3D, 2600 to 2800 extreme 3D. I am running a Axi 2820/10 1200kv with a 12t pinion and a Protek 5S 4000mAh at 2550rpm. It has a nice climb out rate, but lacks a little in a drop stall, not a real crisp stop. Running 9deg. cyclic, 7deg. was to sluggish, with D/R at 100% and 110%, waiting for a descent day to take it to the field for the final adjustments.

I have alway had this same prob with head speed, I dont have a governer on my nitros and ive just bought a hdx.(love it by the way)
I would like to know concerning the hdx what kind of percentages people are generally running.
im currently running 100 80 80 80 100 idleup. can I run 100 across all points without making things catch fire does anyone know.
I owned a trex 450 about 4 years ago I think, I did run that at 100 percent on every point and it lasted a good 12 months before the speedy stopped working and it wasent even a new speedy when i bought it, does anyone know or tried this, ive always found the faster the headspeed the safer as far as not crashing but its a vicious circle as too fast for too long and things brake apart in a somewhat violent nature, ive had a blade come away from its grip and it was like a hand grenade going off at close range.

I initially tested one with 890kv 4s 24T setup. It would get 2800+ head speed buy very very hard on the motor with very little torque.
With 20T pinion, the motor seemed happier but not enough head speed at around 2400. I just got 5s 2600 pack for testing with 20T pinion. I expect same head speed as 4s 24T but with 20% more torque.

The paddles weigh 17g and seem heavy for the application. It it very very stable for novice but people who fly 3d will not like it much. It looks like Trex500 paddles at 8g will be much better.
