Is there any advantage to the Esky aluminum tail parts? It's obvious that I love PURPLE, but if there's absolutely no advantage other than bling, I'll wait a while.

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

I will second the fact that it looks cool. Maybe it is lighter and that would help with CG?

Advantages, yes. I have a full CNC bird and each CNC part was installed to solve a specific problem. Maybe I should just make a list. But for now here's the tail box.

First and probably most importantly, it uses metal screws into metal threads. If you've ever tried to remove the tiny screw in the very end of the plastic box, you'll know what a huge win this is for servicability. Plus that plastic doesn't hold up very well to regular assembly/dissassembly. I still remember Fender's thread on "leave well enough alone" where his HBK2 was grounded during routine maintinance. I think even he would agree its good be rid of the plastic box.

Secondly it uses larger bearings and both are the same size. The plastic tailbox uses different sized bearings and both of mine had worn out. That's why went with the CNC tail.

Thanks for the informative reply. I see that it works with the stock slider, so all I need is the tail box ass'y. I'm quite happy with the T-Wrecks blade holders. I use the carbon batwings, and they fit much better with the Align rotor.

gregor 99 can you replace only the bearings of the tail gear box cnc metal or you just have to buy a new one? i also have my belt cp flying the the cnc tail box. the only metal pieces in it its the tail and the tail servo holder and horizontal fin set. you get less vibration with this horizontal fin set piece of purple metal

The bearing between the plastic and CNC tail boxes are different sizes and as I recall the CNC is flanged where the plastic is not. The other thing I forgot to mention is the I was planning up upgrading the tailbox bearings to Boca Bearings. Knowing the CNC would be in my future at some point I didn't want to upgrade the bearings in the plastic box then have to do it again with the CNC box.

And yes, I had pretty severe tail vibration that was helped in part by the CNC box. But also required replacing the tail grips, swash and washout.

You know...

When I put the T-Recks tail blades in, I just sanded down the root of the baldes to fit the stock grips. Musta got luck I guess....
