This is very typical Patriot,It is no suprise to Me that someone would even start a tread like this.I know that JR heli division builds some of the finest machines on the planet no doubt,I can say this only because I have built and flown many,Vibe90's etc.But there is some compititon here now and it is great that RJX was included in the battle.They could have said Align or anybody else but the X50 was thown into the mix so it is with out a doubt that the X50 is the new Bad Boy who the others will compare to GOOD or BAD.The X50 is still a young buck and look at this SH*T!!,Someone is allready comparing it to one of the finest mfg'ers on the planet,This is AWESOME!Can you imagine where RJX will be in the very near future,I cannot wait.

The point I find the most interesting is that the Xtreme 50 has been released and is being flown all over the planet.

The Vibe 50 has not been released, and they are speculating how their unreleased heli compares to one you can actually fly!

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
It was a good trade!

The Vibe's been on sale for about a week in the UK and Europe, go to the JR forum, there's a number of guys who are flying them.

I think your Title for this thead needs change to cover the content, we are really talking about the comparisons of the X50 and the V50.

I have been a JR pilot for a very long time, and think they have great machines, but the Vibe 50 is not the same design as the X50 for sure, so that brings up the question????
"Why are people comparing the X50 to the Vibe50?"
We should compare apples to apples, at this point we are comparing apples to bannas as the two designs are different. a closer comparison would be the 600N.

Have you seen the Vibe 50? It's VERY similar to the X50 and 600N.

Hrmm... the x-treme is much closer in design to the vibe 50, not the 600n. There is no way that any JR guy will say the X-treme is even close to the new vibe 50, so its a bit of a pointless thread unfortunatly. Perhaps if RJX had some more backing like JR does, then it might be a different story.... Give RJX a couple of years to catch up its reputation which it deserves with the X, then JR owners might accept that this is a good heli, way better than the hurrican that RJX first got into the market with....

Has anyone noticed the posted RTF weights of the Vibe 50? They are coming out at 7.9 - 8.0 lbs minus fuel. That is with a typical set up using digital servos, gyro, governor, Carbsmart, etc. My Xtreme 50 tips the scale at 7 lbs 10 oz. I was a bit surprised at the weight of the V50. The intial claims were 7.0 - 7.5 lbs.

Obviously you haven't seen the Xtreme 50 next to a 600N. Aside from the frame materials and belt drive on the 600N sport, they look nothing alike. The 600N's frames are twice as wide and have significantly more flex in them (especially at the rear).

The X50 and V50 have a similar fuel tank mounting method and the frames are narrow on both helis. It remains to be seen how well the V50 performs in the hands of the average pilot. I know Jr quality is top notch, but then so are the parts prices.

I cant wait to see how this pans out. Will there be any big differenice in the two, I bet not. Will you gain anything by buying the vibe over the X50, I bet not. Will you fly better with the vibe then with the X50, I bet not. Will you get better service from Jr then from RJX, I really bet not. Will crash parts be cheaper for the vibe then for the X50, I bet not. I know Jr makes good helis but I for one will be sticking with rjx. Rusty service has been second to none to this point. That to me is worth the cost of the heli x2...

ez2bgman: There is a difference between making up numbers and being honest. I've seen some weights out there that are completely unrealistic. My friends K3D was quoted RTF 3.200gr... yea sure... if you forget the engine. He has normal stuff and on a precision scale it ended up weighting 3601gr.

All my friends Vibes are ending between 3520gr and 3570gr.

My 600N all blinged out weights 3.540gr so there is at least one vibe out there that is lighter.

I'm finishing my build but with just 2 small changes I already removed 26gr from the tail. Anybody can put any heli on a diet and have a super light machine. It ends up on how much you're willing to do to get it light.

The RJX has an interesting design. I did see one real close and checked it through. I like what I saw aside from some tolerance issues that I'm sure that will be (or already were) fixed.

On the other hand building a V3D was the most enjoyable build ever for me at least. I've build alot of hirobos, raptors and 600N's but there is absolutely no comparison possible with a this heli. You can assemble it in your bed or on the sofa and everything will still line up perfectly. Getting the frames lined up on a 600N was a real nightmare.

Sure, most don't care about those details and just slap everything together (I know at least 1 guy that assembled a 600N in 3h ready to fly) but in this hobby its not all about flying. I enjoy every single step of it (building included).

My two cents

Tony

Tony,

I am sure that the V50 will be a great heli. I have nothing against it. It good to see more competition in the 50 class. Not sure who you think is making up numbers, but my Xtreme 50 weighed in at 7 lbs 10 oz on a USPS scale. I took no extra measures to save any weight. I have top of the line equipment on my X50 (8717's, ReactorX, 6100 gyro, Carbsmart, etc. etc.). The weights the I referenced for the V50 were taken directly from that long a$$ Vibe 50 thread in the Jr section. I am sure that there will be some guys that will be weight conscience and therefore build it as light as possible.

Bobby Watts will be attending our club's 2nd annual fun fly and I hope he brings the V50. I would love to see it in person.

V50 = airskipper
V3D = Vibe 50

Anyway, I said that "some" manufacturers make up unrealistic weights. For example, how many do you know with a 3200gr 600N? Maybe if you throw away the governor, start cutting on servos (the 8717 weight 69gr) and other stuff and MAYBE you'll get 3200gr. at least JR was more realistic and said between 3550r and 3750gr which is right depending on setup. Using the heaviest stuff out there (including Nicad) you should hit the 3.7kg mark)

The proof is in the pudding! There is a lot a speculation going around.

It appears that only hard core JR guys are saying that spares are easy to come by.......... I wonder if they'll be saying that after their first crash.....

I for one know that JR spares in South Africa are hard to come by.

There's no denying that JR has "quality", but they've had their fair share of issues. RjX has had issues, but have been very proactive in sorting them out. This puts them (IMHO) on a par with the "big" boys.

Should we not be saying that the Vibe looks more like the X50 and not the other way round?????

Gary - what equipment is in your X50? 7lbs 10 oz comes in at just a fraction under 3.5 kg - that's a light ass heli.
