We've got a lot of really good guys, and some really good fields to fly at here in OC. Fairview Park, Kite Hill in Laguna Niguel, Arbor Park, OCMA for members. Most sites require AMA membership, so that's a great place to start! www.modelaircraft.org

If you need assistance with troubleshooting, or setup, or just need someone to look at your bird to help with confidence, let us know!

I've flown at Fairview, Kite Hill and Arbor. Haven't flown at OCMA. Been there and saw the field when it was closed, but still not convinced I want to pay for membership at OCMA, as I don't plan on going nitro. Of the 3 places, Arbor is the nicest for small e-heli's, and is the only one with grass.

Fairview is all electric planes, with lots of sailplanes in the afternoon.

Kite Hill is where I started out in RC over 30 years ago, flying gliders. Now it's mostly electrics, but when I was there a couple weeks ago with my scale heli, they all seem to fly their foamie planes over people's heads, cars, etc. and land in the parking lot between cars and people. Made me very uncomfortable watching them flying over all the people. Seems to me an accident just waiting to happen, even if it is a lightweight foamie. What's really sad is one of the guys doing this was wearing an AMA T-shirt. Every time I've been to Fairview or KH, I was the only heli pilot. May be different during the week, as I was there on probably the busiest day, Sunday's.

I think I'll continue flying at my little "private" field nearby till it gets developed.

When's the next time people are meeting at Arbor? Hate to drive all the way out there if everyone is elsewhere, or if there's another soccer game going on.

I think fairview and AP have a lot in common cause they both got a good number of plankers, we saw 35% edge plank go down last weekend and before that a .60 piper cub almost landed on the heli pad. kinda exciting.

I'm typically the only heli pilot when I go to Fairview, but am friends with a couple of the planker regulars. I lived in CM for 9 years, so Fairview was my old slope gliding area until the trees at the bottom of the cliff/bluffs grew tall enough to mush up the slopes.

Out of all the places I've flown helis that's primarly a planker field, I feel I get the most respect at Fairview.

I NEVER go out there weekend mornings. The old boys with their thermal gliders are out there winching their birds into the sky, and I HAVE gotten some negativity then. But it's their field. Harbor Soaring Society is why Fairview exists.

Only problem I have with Fairview is you get the onshore flow directly over HB onto the field. Usually pretty windy.

For many of us whom fly at AP, please keep mind some importand thing. Don't fly far out (the military base will send someone to stop us, this happened on Monday, the other problem is birds, the armo base used gun to scare the bird out of their run way, if someone fly far out may scare the evil birds back to the base, which could cause problem for aircrafs. So if you heard loud bang, gun firing from the base, land your craft. Stop flying)

Arbor Park is the place where I flew for the very first time, with my 450SE and Finless' help. It's actually a nice field, and the grass is forgiving.

I never got to fly at Irvine, but I might have to visit as a guest and see OCMA. I doubt I'll join, as I'm already a member of two clubs out here, but it'd be nice to spend a day with you guys again.

Must be nice. I thought I was doing good getting Friday off. And of course Friday is my wife's birthday, so I doubt I'll be doing any flying then either.

we had a good day yesterday at OCMA field, rich ,tommy ,and MadMax were there. and I got to fly a plank .60 over at the runway. it was nice doing some knife edge orbits and hovers, but my left hand was falling asleep so I went back to the helipad. 6 channel is better than 4.

Spent some time at OCMA today, got my badge and did my walkthrough.

The last pack of the day, I duct taped a flycamone to my Logo's battery pack and took this little vid. My first aerial vid.
