Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a Lepton kit. I've seen that Hirobo sells kits with motor, ESC, lipo battery and charger. Can someone please give me their opinion of the Hirobo stuff that you get with the kit, if it's decent stuff, or if they would suggest non Hirobo brands. As a pilot, I'm no 3D expert, I just enjoy flying circuits and progressing to 3D slower but steadily... so really just fly for fun.

Also - hirobo web site says that you shouldn't use G3 Futaba receivers.. Can someone please explain why? I have a R5114DPS that I'd like to use.. but not sure why they say that you can't use the 5014 on the website.
Thanks,
Nick

From what I've heard the Hirobo ESC, motor, batteries etc are good but I think they are a little overpriced, so I chose to buy just the kit and get everything else separately.

I'm very confused about that comment about G3 receivers ! I hadn't seen that before. I have no idea why that would be.... maybe their size is the problem ? not sure.

I'm using the 6 channel Futaba PCM rx with no problems. I personally think a 14 channel rx is a waste for this small machine but of course if you have one already you should be able to use it. So I can't wait to hear what others have to say about this !

Good luck !

I got the same kit with the motor, esc and bat etc resonably cheap compared to other shops selling them at the time and I reckon the quality is just great. No messing around with electronics compatability, the 4 cell lipo seems to be good weight etc for this size heli, sits on the heli nice, so does the esc. I havnt tried gov mode yet but seems to work well, gets a bit hot. looks good qual, solid, chunky. The charger works and balances. I'd rather use my own but its a drama to have to change the balance plug, the one lex plug fits both esc and charger. There certainly not like the stock electronics you get in other kits...

well that's good to hear about the electronics that hirobo include in the kit.. the same quality as the model. Since i know a lot about nitro, getting a kit like this to start in EP would make sense then.. given i don't need to spend hours researching into different esc, motors. etc. Thanks for your opinion.
Does anyone have a bad experience with the electronics in the lepton kit?

Anyone know about the g3 issue?

I don't know about the g3 issue, but I have seen the remarks about not using a PPM RX on the MRC site. They reccomend you use dual conversion PCM I'm guessing to avoid potential glitches. If you want a straight answer try emailing Hirobo.
