Events, Shows and Fun Flys > 8th Annual Jefco Aeromod'lers Helicopter Fun Fly - May 17th, 2008

Heliman
Location: Denver, CO

The 8th Annual Jefco Helicopter Day will be held May 17, 2008, at Chatfield Reservoir Colorado State Park. The Jefco AeroMod'lers have graciously allowed the Colorado Rotor-Heads to use their world-class RC Flying Field for this special event. Landing donation for the event is $15.00. A FREE Lunch will be provided for all registered participants. Pilot check-in is at 8:30 AM (the field will be open at 7:00 AM for flying). There will be plenty of door prizes in our drawing. There will be open flying throughout the day, plus fun fly style events until 4:00 PM. The 2007 event was very popular with 31 pilots, 100 spectators and over 65 helicopters on display. Helicopter pilots of any skill level and spectators are welcome to attend. 2008 AMA membership is required for all pilots. We hope to see you there!

For detailed event info and maps, please visit:
http://www.coloradorotorheads.com/Events/jefco2008.php

2008 Events will include:

Beginner Event - Pad Hop -- Starts at 9:30AM -- This is a timed event. There will be 4 landing pads arranged in a square. The time will start, the pilot will take-off from one pad and land on the remaining 3 pads. The time will stop. The pilot will then perform the same maneuver, landing on the pads in the reverse order - again the flight will be timed. The pilot with the lowest time differential between the two sequences will win. The pilot may not use a timer, watch, or other time keeping device.

Intermediate Event - Bottle Knock-Over -- Starts at 10:30AM -- This is a timed event. The pilot will knock over a set of bottles in a race against the clock. The timer will start as soon as the pilot takes off. If after take-off any part of the helicopter touches the ground before successfully knocking over the bottles, then that pilot is disqualified. Lowest elapsed time wins.

Expert Event - Autorotation Contest -- Starts at 11:30AM -- The pilot will perform an autorotation, to a precision landing. The pilot with the shortest distance from the X to the helicopter mainshaft will win. The best 2 out of 3 autos will count, and the shortest total distance from the best 2 autos will determine the winner.

Drag Racing -- Starts at 2:30PM -- This event will start in two starting boxes on the north/south runway. The helicopters will fly parallel to the east/west runway, to the finish line at the far west end of the E/W runway.Through single-elimination, the fastest helicopter wins.

Just found out that I don't leave for Indy until Sunday so I am there like white on rice. Plus I need to defend my Drag Racing title and rack up a third Autorotation title.

Plans are moving forward. Stay tuned for some minor updates
to the Funfly. Just to keep DOperchal from from taking all the
titles, we may have a scale event. Or maybe just a grudge match.

Steve

If it doesn't have atleast 4 blades your not trying.
