| The GuruZ fiber frame is definately a keeper, Tyran. Very solid and as you say, more crisper control. I really opened it up tonight and performed pretty much every maneuver that can be performed upright and I'm impressed. There are a couple of things I don't like about the fiber frame, though:
1. The stock HBK2 main shaft won't work with the fiber frame.
2. The stock pulley must be inverted in order to get to the retaining pin hole in the main shaft. In other words, the channel that holds the retaining pin is facing down instead of upwards as in the stock HBK2.
3. The main gear has about 1/8 in. of up and down play on the main shaft. I'm not sure what is causing this. Perhaps, because I had to invert the stock pulley, as noted above. I don't think this problem is a huge deal, though.
Of course, the positives far outweigh the negatives, IMO. A couple of big positives for me are:
1. A set screw is used to secure the boom to the boom mount.
2. The CG is perfect with my MegaPower 1350mAh batteries. No need to move the battery way forward as in the stock HBK2. I'm placing the battery all of the way into the battery tray and the CG is perfect.
I think you'll like the fiber frame, Tyran. |
