the only reference I have with auto's is the sim,and on the sim you need to get up high and give full neg pitch when you hit T/H.this gets the blades whizzing as you fall then as you get close to the ground you give positive and it slows.I dont think you can get the momentum you need from 6ft up starting with pos pitch, you have no where to go
and yes in R/C heli mag they usually give the 450's a bad auto rating apparently its not easy to auto one

One and two foot auto's are awesome. I can see where you have a point fender cause the REX just looses momentum from 6ft. But like I said the short ones work more like I would of suspected you can actually flare too much and stall. Guess I'll quit with the autos I dont think they will be helpful. Unless I was to perfect them like fender said full negative then flare at the end thats a little too much for my skills.

Have you seen the video of the blade stop. The guy goes up 150 feet stops the blades. The heli falls and gains headspeed. By the time he was close to the ground he had plenty of headspeed and had extra reserve after landing.
Couldnt find Jason Bells blade stop video. Check these out. The autos are at the end. The last one is hilarious. Racin will get a kick out of it.
Flew my ole beater Hummingbird FP tonite.. Priceless.

I'm starting to get bored with my own flying
time to break out of your comfort zone and try something new, where are you at in your flying skills?
I flew tonight but it didn't go real well,we are stuck in this lame ass weather pattern where it gets windy and rains at random intervals.and by random I mean as soon as I pull up to the field inbetween rain showers I worked on some T's but it was kind of gusty so it wasn't real fun as I was fighting more than flying...this whole spring/summer has sucked so far weather wise, just horrible.we have had very few really nice days so far
man that dude in the last vid is a nut...I saw a vid of him hand launching AND hand catching the heli, total nut but he's having a blast, and thats what its all about.I gotta say though those FP look almost indestructible
let me see if I can find some Bobby Watts vids he does auto's that are unbelievable

Just been watching all the youtube vids and I can still smell that burning nitro from my teen years then you get to spend an hour with the spray foam cleaner and paper towels cleaning it all up. Also Its been a long term dream to have a scale nitro. Cause they are huge!

Tryan I don't understand your response. I shot a pic and I asked simply for a shot from the back of your tail with the servo in the neutral position ... ie, where it holds the tail in rate mode ... ie, where it initializes.
I am thinking there is something wrong with the parts that make up my tail. It is like the little arms on the slider are too long and thus it has to move too far left. Just out of curiosity the tail blades on a Rex do turn the same way as a King, right?
No flying for Greg today. Had a long day at work and the wind was going strong when I arrived home. For the last two months, the east wind has been blowing off and on. Today it was blowing west. I suppose that the pressure will stabilize in two more months.
At this rate I won't be able to fly until the 450 arives.

Which one!!??
Any way... I only flew for a few seconds today, but Padawan and I had a good rebuild/training session. It was nearly dark by the time our schedules coincided, but we got some practice and tweaking in.
The broken head was replaced with an RC-TEK Sky Shark head (NIIICE...), and the stripped gear was replaced with a Blade 400 main gear. Dropped right in, with some slight encouragement.
The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.
Ok new question. How long is the tail shaft on your Rex guys? I was looking closer at my own pic and I noticed the gear on mine is plastic. So I looked closer at it and now I think maybe it is the wrong shaft and is a tad shorter than an Align HS1203 tail shaft. Actually I think it is the shaft off a Rex450SA, black shaft with white plastic gear. I measured it at 41.05mm long.
Any helps Rex guys? I would ask the Rex forum but that would be pointless, so it is all on you guys
