did you get your heart rate up a little on that flight greggor?

Did you just keep it nose into the wind? or did you actually try to fly it a little bit?

On topic:

So far I have gotten about a good 80-90 minutes worth of flying so far. Mostly on the miniT but a couple setup flights on the king. I like it better when I transition from the king and then fly the miniT. When I fly the titan first it always feels like the king is so jumpy and a little twitchy.

I have started working on FFF 8's but turning towards me on the banks. I started by just going back and forth down the street and then fliping the tail around and coming back. Then I slowed the flip and added some bank. its about 50/50 on if they are smooth or not, but I am getting more comfortable turning the nose towards me.

I have really needed today, its been almost 3 weeks since I have flown last. Back to when I had that Detroit job, and then the baby came, and then getting home with baby, along with daily trips to hospital for that jaundice testing. SOoooo, today in st. louis it has be a little windy, just about 3-8mph, but CLEAR BLUE skies and sunny. ALMOST perfect. I just could not pass that up. I told my wife I needed my therapy.

discovered the T500 is not immune to wind. I got away with it this time.

This is how smart people learn.

No pain anymore, I had that mini banking like it was on rails!! I damn near had the throttle all the way up and keeping it on a nice horizontal plane and making the turns come around right at me. IT FELT GOOD!!!

Great job Burly. I know what you mean about banking with full throttle. Ive been doing that also. Im doing it with align woodies. I probably should get some carbons.

I was trying those align 325 Fiber, but I did not like them, I am back to the align woodies too.

Has anyone else compared the align fiber side by side with the extreme plastics? They looked almost identical except for the length.

I am not saying that, just that I am doing just fine with the woodies. I still have my occasional crashes, although they are getting further and further apart. I still just want the 20-40 repair instead of the 50-100 repair. when I start catching up to fender and dougie with the inverted stuff I MIGHT look into getting a set. I think it is just a personal preference, kind of like the 43tooth pulley upgrade ( hey tryan and norsy)

stock woodies there too. I think they are the 275's? dont quote me on that. I tried the plastics from extreme, but kept having them fly apart on me in flight. Makes the innocent bystanders a little bit jumpy. I had a pair of carbons too, but some dumb thumbs took care of those. Besides i fly my king like i stole it. use her to work on learning new stuff.

Is it the performance / flight characteristics, or the crash cost?

Today I flew the 500 about 10 or 12 flights.

I'm used to it, but I'm not completely comfortable with it yet.

Flying this much is a dirty job, but....

Stock length is 275mm. Plastic blade grips use a 2.5mm screw, CNC uses a 3mm screw. I run 280mm blades with a CNC head so 3mm on the bolt. I'm currently running the SAB blades from Helihobby, seems like the only place you can get them. I have also run the Align 325mm blades cut down to 280mm and liked this quite a bit.

Others have tried longer blades and claim they are fine. On MY heli with 280mm blades and stock tail blades I can get them to touch. It takes a lot of pressure so I'm not worried about. BUT I'm not going any longer than 280mm or using 450 size tail blades. I have some 450 K&Bs that I put on for testing and sitting on the ground with the throttle up, applying negative pitch I was able to get the blade tips close enough that it convinced me not to run them. Here's the stock tail blades with Align 280mm blades cut down.

Got in some nose-in, slower piros, and some rudimentary "racin-style" ovals.

Shizak, I'm honored to have a maneuver named after me . Very nice flying!

MMike,

It was a combination of being a little bit "flimsy" and they just didnt "feel" right when I was flying. I loved how they sound, they give you that blade chopping the air sound on hard banks and popups, but I just didnt feel comfortable with them. Might be that in the back of my head I keep thinking they are like the extreme plastics that I had trouble with. I guess its is just a personal thing when you boil it down.
