You can actually plan your finances? I do OK for myself but I got few years before I am debt free. I did plan my medical insurance through the veterans administration that should help a lot. Its this heli budget that may break me early have you seen the price of nitro?

I wonder if Shiz could fly today, or if the Hurricane is impacting the Georga weather?

High nitro prices is one of the reasons my 450 is getting alot of air time

Financial planning talk to a bank rep or life insurance rep or both but ya it was hurt the wallet a little now or alot later

I think we're falling Off topic now so I'll post tomorow if I fly

Are you kidding I couldnt fly today Gustav has made it to northeast MO! Just Winds and rain and the temps dropped from yesterdays 92 to todays 68 that makes it feel like its freezing dropping that quick.

It was actually beautiful out today - negligible wind, moderate temps. I'm on the east side of GA. The Fla. hurricane (Fay?) made it too windy and rainy last week, but this week's been pretty good.

Went to Padawan's place today and we re-setup his RC-TEK head on the BeltCP after a wall strike a few days ago. That thing tracks like a knife now, but he's only running +/- 8º, so no punch. He said to leave it where it was when I suggested going 10/10.

I got a half a pack in while he was changing batteries. He was suitably impressed with my nose-in and circles . I told him conquering nose-in was the key to FF, but he's still working towards 45º side-in.

Maybe a vid later of our flights.

I am having a few minor problems,
but am still flying.

I have to adjust my blade tracking constantly,
that might be my wood blades.

And I am having a vibration issue,
I think my blades are balanced pretty good.

There is no vibration when I first start to spin up,
and then (maybe at about 15% power) it starts to vibrate and then the vibration stops shortly thereafter.

Should I try some shims?

How do I know where to put them?

Because trial and error would be horrific.

I know good advice when I ignore it ;)

check the head dampeners or general slop in the head need to keep the spindle fairly tight in the dampeneres and sorry but use TREX blades. If the vibration goes away at liftoff just keep flying worry about it if it gets worse.

Next blades I get will be rex.

I have a set of carbons,
I just haven't gotten the guts to put on yet.

The spindle may not be as tight as it should be I lost a spacer the other day, and substituted my own.

It was weird as hell,
I was flying around just fine,
and then I kind of dropped (happened alot with my improper throttle and pitch curves)
so I "floored" it but it was too late.

I landed a little hard,
Not too hard for grass,
probably would have even been fine on concrete (although it would've made me cringe)

but when I hit,
my blades went flying off.

Lost my bearings,
and it appeared that maybe I didn't have the screws into the feathering shaft tight.

I know good advice when I ignore it ;)

I made this for sparky and zaw when they were having somewhat similar issues, but maybe this will help.

OOOPS thats how you learn.

just remember for perfect tracking that head has to be tight but NOT BINDING no matter what blades you use.

Here's how my protegè is coming along. Freshly re-setup head after wall strike repairs. He changed all the parts himself. He just needed some help getting the head set up right.

..and my flight with HatCam while he changed batteries. Crummy quality - wrong lighting setting on the cheapo camera; sun going down; shadowy back yard. But some of the silhouette shots are neat.

Still trying to do tail in figure 8's. I got the heli to come in diagonal nose in and pyro half pyro but I need work on other side. Oh well.. Well get there soon.

Today was cloudy and dark little early, I have 3 batteries left but it was hard to see so I quit for the day.

Tomorrow I'm helping my friend assemble a HPI Baja SS !!

I actually have those extreme turnbuckles they make the tracking easy,
though the links they came with were too loose,
so I used my own.

I put on my carbons,
and flew several times with no tracking issues....
after a really long time adjusting them to get them to track in the first place.

On another note,
I am getting ready to sculpt a fuselage (that incorporates my dynamic stabilizers)
in my sculpture class.

After making a mold,
I will cast as many copies as I can afford (fiberglass)

One more note,
what is the best cheapest FP heli,
that can handle the outdoors.

My sculpture teacher is interested,
and I don't think he will want to start with a little coaxial like I did,
and I went straight from the coaxial to my CP,
so I have no direct knowledge of FPs.

Careful FG fuse is a lot of weight depending on the glass you use. with your stabilizer and fuse you may be pushing the envelope of the BeltCP. I know my king with plastic fuse and a little too much paint was a dog I was flying a flat 90% throttle curve with longer main blades to get it moving good again normal mode was out of the question.

Hopefully this is where the stabilizer will shine,
and really show its potential for lift.

Also this will allow me to finally mount it properly,
where I have them in the videos is a bit low.

They should be as close to the CG as possible.

I am going to try and keep the fuse weight down to 10-15% of the weight.

I realize that this will be a real challenge.

Hey I have a batter where one of the balance connector wires (yellow) came off,
and I have been trying to solder it back on.

But it just won't stick.

Is this because they are different kinds of solder?

Have you gotten solder to stick, as in "pre-tin"?

balance pin is usually a crimp on connector pin made of a tin or some other less ferrous metal that is very hard to solder.
