I am not going to clean them for awhile,
so I remember everytime I look at them.

Allthough,
this was almost deep enough to need stitches,
so there is some deep tissue damage,
I won't be able to forget for awhile.

I am just thanking god I had those generic plastic blades (315mm) on the main rotors,
because if I had my 325mm carbons on.......

It was the tail rotors that got my hand,
The main rotors missed my face and body by a bit.

I flew at the local "Helis only" club today. Here's an arial view.

http://cascademodelheli.gotdns.com/joomlab/index.php

The wind was very strong and the tiny HBK2 was getting tossed around quite badly. The small size of the heli made it very hard to see as I starting using up the large space.

Wind and open skies, both expose the HBK2's unsolvable weaknesses. Most its other issues can be addressed with tuning or better parts. But you can't make it bigger.

The day made me wish for a larger heli, a MUCH larger heli! There was a Raptor 50 there. Quite massive next to my HBK2. That seemed about the right size for size of the field I was at.

Get better Mike!

I still smell nitro from 20 years ago when I was a little picapacapoopoo.

And this is just a 30 next to a king.

Its so huge I am getting intimidated and considering that AMA thing.

Is there anyone here that doesn't have / want a nitro?

One other thing about the Raptor. I got to see the mechanical mixer up close. Much more elagant than I expected. Seemed a like a good design. I can see why that wouldn't work on a smaller heli though. Takes up too much room.

So here's a question, should I skip the 450 and go straight into a nitro?

Greg,
Dont waste your money on a 450. Get a 30 size Rator. They nare so much fun. 20 minute flights are common. Plenty of scale fuselages. lots of fun. easy to see.

Tryans right. Its windy as all get out here. I fly the HBFP first. It doesnt matter what wind it is. I just get it high and give it everything its got. Most fun. second i fly 1 flight with the MT. Not fun. Just a bunch of saves. 3rd flight is the Raptor 50. I will do 3 to 6 flights with that. Its a ton of fun. I fly about 30 second drive from my house so it doesnt take long to get there.

I was just kidding about wasting your time with the 450.

I have a new theory Greg.........I can fly like a mad man with the HBFP.......I need to translate that to the MT.......Then translate that to the Rappy 50. Its working for me. I almost wish i hadnt gotten rid of the King. It couldve gotten me to the next level pretty easy. Ill still do it. Itll just take a little longer. Just my thoughts.
