Latest Setup info

We just got back from the field with Steven's X50 and here is the latest setup changes and results.

Moved the washout arms to the outside

Fliped the grip mixing arm so the 3 holes are now facing the grip, standard setup, the 3 hole side the ball is in the middle, on the 2 hole side the ball is to the outside.

Steven reported that the cyclic response to the flybar is quick, the heli is very stable and responsive, all I can say is he has a big grin the entire flight.

She's ready to rock and roll in New Orleans, getting on the road at 4pm EST tomorrow

I3DM,
Yes, I reinforced both sides of the canopy and along the top with carbon cloth. The carbon is light, but the resin is heavy. So next time I will just add some strips of carbon to stiffen the canopy up in a few areas. The canopies need to be made out of a little heavier glass cloth. My Aurora canopies are only 15grams heavier than my X50's! The Aurora canopies are the finest I have ever seen, strong and very light.

Told you so, Clyde. That is the setup that I am running. My cyclics are very fast, yet stable during a hover and FFF.

We're only at 12.5 top and bottom and it was a rocketship, quick cyclic response and very stable and smooth

Guys,

i just came back from the field, tried Foxden's setup and its GOOD ! i love it - cyclic is faster but still feel very locked in all the manuvers !! i cut a lot of grass today flying low

I would definitely recommend this setup as a 3D setup. i use Radix 600 blades with great results !

Guys,

I just re setup my head, moved the bell mixer short side (2 holes) to the inner hole, to get more collective pitch speed.

We'll see how it goes, should be extremely quick on collective now too !

To get the same colelctive range (+-12.5) i had to lower the swash pitch AFR from 60% to about 52%, cant wait to test it again - this heli flys absolutely awesome in 3D !

Hey guys,

I just got back from the field testing the new setup, which is like Foxden recommended but with the INNER hole on the 2 side hole (away from the grip) of the bell mixer.

It seems that both collective and cyclic is faster now - which fits me quite well - i think this is the setup im going to keep !
With this setup this machine feels stronger then any 90 size i have owned to date.

I also made a video today (in strong winds!) and will post it soon as i have it uploaded too.

Head set up

that is the head set up we have been running from the first X50 we built, it is very fast but might not be for everyone, the set up in the box is given as a stable but med fast set up good for a starting point.

Because this head design offers so many possibilities we wanted to provide a good starting point, we have now made a few changes to ours and we also see others expirementing with different settings, no one setting is going to be perfect for everyone and the head was designed to allow each of us to customize it to our liking.

Thats the beauty of this machine.
