Use to thumb the sticks, but now I’m experimenting with the pinch. When I get nervous and anticipate something going wrong my fingers do the talking and I’m back to thumbs cause it feels more natural to me. Like they say, old habits are hard to break. Also.. I watch the nose when I’m upright and lean more to watching the tail when inverted and the disc.

I watch the canopy and rotor disk. I use my thumbs. I played video games before I started flying and that's what I picked up. I can't pinch the sticks to save my life. I like to reverse my movements when I do. More dumb thumbing on the sim.

I used to fly thumbs... but this winter I focused on pinch, on the sim... and now I like it better. If I need to move cyclic faster and farther for some reason (going to crash)... I find myself using my pointer finger on top of the stick... like I used to do with the thumb.

I watch the blades mostly (especially when inverted)... and then the whole heli.

Thanks for the tip of doing a piro... when trying to determine oriantation when it way out there.. That makes sense... and I will be using that.

I am going to try the tip of watching the far side, right side up - and the near side, when inverted. That sounds like a good idea also... going to try that, we will see.

How many of you fly watching tail and how many of you fly watching the head?
I watch the nose during forward upright. But I watch the tail in the other three orientations: forward upright, forward inverted, and backwards inverted.

During piro flips I exclusively watch the heli's tail.

I fly like I paid for it.

I watch the whole heli, just depends on the orientation.

I would try and get out of that habit before learning the pinch grip.

I'm usually right on top of these these threads, especially when this very question comes up.

Sorry for the "bump" but I'm just adding this one to the list.

I took a short flight in the yard last evening, as I'm flying, I realize that my left is pinch....but my right....I've got the thumb over the top of the stick, forefinger wrapped round the front..... and then it occurred to me ....I'm THINCH!... I grinned the rest of the flight thinkin bout it...

Oh, yeah, I did a search, and posted this comment in EVERY single thread that asked thumb or pinch, yeah...uh huh...no, really I did...

On a serious note:
By the way, explain to me searching using AND OR NOT....
I don't think I'm doing it right.

EDIT:
OMG I can't believe I found the answer to my question....uh...by doing a search.....

Anyway, thank you very much kcass518 for asking what I was afraid to ask and get flamed...
