I have a few questions for some of you:

How many of you fly watching tail and how many of you fly watching the head?

Is thumb flying wrong? It feels uncomfortable to fly using 2 fingers but i hold a steady hover easily

I fly watching the nose, (canopy), and I use my thumbs and fore fingers, (pinch), on the sticks.

EDIT: Correction to my statement above. I learned by flying the nose, but later on I started to watch the entire heli depending on the heli's attitude.

I watch the nose and the blades to see which way I am leaning.

I use the blades and landing gear...the gear can play tricks on you though so be careful..

Only joking.
I watch as much as I can, remaining aware of direct and peripheral vision, especially when others are flying. I find it doesn't help focussing on one particular part of the heli because this limits visual cues. Soft eyes. When flying at a distance such that the heli is hard to see, continu.ous piros are always good for keeping it together.

I just watch it. Also, I fly crazy 3dz and use my thumbs. Just use whatever feels comfortable.

It is nice to see exactly how many people fly different ways than others

I'm a 3D thumber and I watch the whole heli. If I get disorientated I throw in a piro so I can see the tail pop out and re-orientate.

Mode 2 BTW...

I watch the whole machine, but pay more attention to the far side of the machine when upright and the near side of the machine when inverted.

Watch out one more:

I pinch the sticks then watch the rotor disk and tail.

Depends on what position the heli is in. Normally I watch the entire machine. Fly thumbs. Do some 3d. Tried many times to cross over to thumb-finger stick holding but always revert back to thumbs. I think this comes from flying planks for many years before I got into helis.

Damn that ground is hard!

That's what did it for me. I was thumbs only until I got a sim. Then I got lazy and didn't want to hold the TX so I went to the pinch.
