Wonder if you guys can help me (usualy right on RConline but no one seems to go there anymore)

I have both a 50 and 70 tt pro engines and both run really bad up to mid stick. They pop and miss like they are running too rich but everything i do with the needles seems to do no good just cant seem to get the ballance right, i have tuned loads of engines in my time and while no expert feel that i can figure out most problems but this one has me baffled. I live in the uk where high nitro fuel is really expensive so am running 10% (is this my problems) im also really interested to hear what plugs you are all using, i have enya 3's in both engines.

Thanks in advance

10 percent may be your problem. Mine popped and missed at midrange on 10 and 15 percent. As soon as i ran 30, everything was perfect. It ran ok at idle and high but terrible at midrange.

Mine was an overheating problem, so 30% CP cured everything.

Pop & hiss

Mine did the same until I switched to the Enya #3 plug. Now she screams like a kitty cat who's tail been stepped on. Also the TT engine doesn't like Castor oil, use only the synthetic blend.

First of all, check/tighten the head and backplate bolts. I do this on all new engines and have found many of them to be loose.
I can't speak from experience on the TT70 however I can for the 50.
If you are using a 46 size muffler, lose it. There's just not enough volume in it. The 2pc Hatori 60 muffler works very well and bolts up without modification. Start off with both needles at about 4 turns. Remember to have the throttle barell closed to it's MECHANICAL limit when checking the idle mixture screw for a proper reference. I run Enya #3 plugs also.
I found this engine LOVES to be run rich and from what I have heard, so does the TT70.
I am running 15% nitro and 22% oil and the TT50 running rich on a muffler blows away the former engine, an OS46fx running 30% on a tuned pipe.
The 50 is very torquey and likes to be loaded. It is pulling 11 deg on the Raptor at 1850 rpm and is still not broke in yet, only about 1/2 gal of fuel through it.

What exhaust and needle settings are you running on yours?

Muffler etc

the muffler is a K&S 2 piece jobby (the one with the rubber mount between the two halves. As for needle settings im not sure, i will check tonight.

Is this the KSJ muffler specifically designed for the 50 or is it a 46 muffler?

Muffler

It is the 46 muffler, but the problems that i am having carry across to the 70 which uses the TT70 stock muffler
