e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > T-rex Blades on the HBK2

Well, since I'm having a hard time finding esky blades, and the X-treme plastic blades were heavy and didn't feel good, I ended up taking a set of T-rex blades from my friend who's not using them anymore (uses carbon fiber now).

I almost cut them at the tip, but thought it will destroy the look of the blades, then I decided to cut the inner part where the bracket goes and used the e-sky plastic pieces. Came out very good, and balanced just fine. They are much better quality than the hbk2 blades, and they track awsome...

Nice Idea and retains the metal tip I havent seen such inventiveness since I learned the pinion works better upside down I know what Im gonna be doing now.

Thanks a million I could use extra TREX blades anyway.

Very nice. I will remember that when I need blades again and everyone in China is on vacation.

Is that training gear on that heli? Let me tell you from recent experience that getting rid of that TG is the best move you can make. As soon as you can hover it and set it back down without much drama, ditch the TG and never look back.

Another thumbs up for being inovatitve. I'm not familar with the Align blades, do they have a coating like the Esky blades or is the white painted on? Those ends look pretty good, just wondering how you did it.

I was just looking at my Align blades and noticing that I have a chip in one. So I would say the coating is kinda of a plastic painted/dipped coating. They definitely feel much nicer than the e-sky woodies.

Thanks guys for the thumbs up, I'm really happy with them, the king flies great with these blades.

I just put the esky blade on top of the align one, and traced the line to cut. Then I carefully used a very sharp x-acto knife (building a few planes in the past helped) slicing thru the blade slowly till it cut apart. The nice thing about these blades is that the white covering is glued on very well (almost seems painted on) so you end up with a very clean edge.

Then I sanded it lightly to smoothen it out, used Thin CA to seal the cut, and painted the bare wood with some white paint to match. You can't even tell that it's been cut. The blades look brand new. I was really amazed that the CG was exactly the same on both as well.

Just took about 45 min. Hopefully they'll last .

Thanks for the details on the process. Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing this great tip. I have some CF blades that I'm not quite ready put on and I'd like a better blade. This is the perfect answer.

thats a GREAT idea....good job too.....I will say this about ALIGN...say what you want...they make an EXCELLANT main blade.(been using them for months)...good quality, good flight, great tracking, and priced very well....back when I first got my MINI and started using these ...I saw that they were 12.99,and couln't believe the quality....at the LHS on the next rack over was the CRAPPY ASSED E-flite blades for a CP that were 14.99....explain that?????

No problem Gregor99. And to finish the process, take off the plastic pieces off the esky blade, then place it on top of the new align blade, and use a small phillips screwdriver to mark the position of the two holes (push somewhat hard into the blade to make an indentation for the hole). Drill the holes for the brackets, then screw them on, and you're done .

Should i need spacers,if I change plastic pieces on Trex blades?
Trex blades fly much better but spacers are a PIA to install.
If this mod is spacers free it would be great.

raven yes you will need spacers to hold the blade strait put them on the top of the blade to clamp down the blade remember to balance the blade to be sure in my belt -cp i have 325 aling but carbon there are sweet and the throtle allmost to a 95% and they dont mis tracking you get them

How does the tail hold with these heavier blades? I'm having trouble getting the tail to hold unless I run rediculously high head speed.

Thinking of trying Trex tail blades.

I really like the bat wing align tail blades. They were supposedly designed to help the 450 tail hold better and I will attest that on my lame little king, that they hold better than stock. I also run them on the Mini. And they are really rough. They scratch instead of chip so they don't get out of balance easily.
