RJX Hobby Hurrican 50 - Xtreme 50 > Who is running Align 2-in-1 with their Xtreme?

Yea - I know, it's sacrilegious to have an Align part on an RJX helicopter!

Anyway, who is running an Align Regulator on their heli, and are you having any issues with high current draw digital servos???

Is anyone running the Align reg with 8717 servos?

Is anyone running the Align with Futaba's new brushless servos?

Thanks!

I am running the 2n1 but with 9451's. So far its working great. I would not run the 8717's with the 2n1 though.

Any idea if the brushless version of your servos (the BLS451s) draws more current or not???

2 in 1 works great on mine with Ace 1015 servos.

Look at FMA power force VLRI2

I have one of the FMA Reg power force VLR12 and they handle all 4- 8717 servo very good at 6 volts, And price is only $46.99

Augusto told me this was the best one he tested at the time" I would say last year". and he has it in his aurora.........I know, LOL

I run the 2 in 1, and have so for some time. Not a hick up!
I also use it with the JR DS8915 servos, no probs!

I heard stories that the 8717 can draw up to 3A each, but where is that info comming from? How reliable is that info? How someone acctualy messured it? It seems really high.

Also, was this on 4.8V or 6V or more? The DS8915 are rated 4.8V only, and they are the same servos as the US version 8717.

2 in 1

I will never use it again, I put mine in the trash, only SGP Reactor and nothing else will do.

What is SGP reactor, and who has it in stock?

How do you wire it?

What about the Spektrum VR5203 regulator?

I 2nd the SGP ReactorX. I just finished wiring up my new electronics today (the ReactorX, 3 8717's, a CarbSmart, and a new 7.4v 2300mah lipo rx battery). The ReactorX is the best regulator out there (I have used the Arizona for over 2 yrs and the Align unit too). It supplies 6v or 6.8v to the cyclic servos and 5.0v for everything else. It can handle 15a continuous output. It is very easy to set up and is as plug and play as they come. With the ReactorX there is no need for a regulator between the battery or after the rx. It does both jobs in one, but much better then the Arizona.

Here is the link and a picture: ReactorX

Does it have any latency induced being between RX and servos?

Best way to predict the future, is to Invent it.

I have not noticed any on the bench. It responds as fast as I can move the sticks. I will know how it feels in the air this coming Sunday.

Out of curiosity, how is it better than the Arizona? From what you describe, it does everything the Arizona does, but is much more expensive. I do like the looks of it better than the Arizona though.

It does more then the Arizona. The Arizona regulates only the gyro/tail servo to 5v while the rest of the system is set at the voltage that you desire (up to 6v). With the ReactorX, the cyclic servos are plugged directly into it and receive either 6v or 6.8v at 15a continuous output. Three leads from the ReactorX then plug into the rx and supply the rx with 5v. Everything but the cyclic servos plug into the rx and gets 5v, which is safe for the gyro/tail servo, governor/throttle servo, etc. The ReactorX is designed for the latest craze of running high voltage power systems to the cyclic servos and makes it very easy to do so. I like the fact that it regulates the voltage to the cyclic servos to 6.8v. This will ensure that the cyclic servos are consistent throughout the entire charge of the rx battery.

Ok, I'm probably gonna get killed for this, but, aside from the fact that it takes 3 power leads to the receiver rather than 2 from the arizona, I don't see the benefits. What if you want you throttle servo to operate at more than 5V?

It's still a nice regulator, and I have nothing bad to say about it, just was wondering why you thought is was better.

just was wondering why you thought is was better.

As I stated earlier, the ReactorX drives the cyclic servos directly with either 6v or 6.8v (user selectable). Then the three leads from the ReactorX supply the rx with 5v at 5a for everything else (gyro/tail servo, governor/throttle servo, etc., etc.). It also supplies 15a continuous output to the amp-hungry 8717's. I can't remember where I read it, but the 8717's can pull 3-4 amps each! The Arizona cannot handle that type of output. With the Arizona, everything plugged into the rx (except for the gyro/tail servo) shares the output supplied by it. Therefore the cyclic servos, governor, throttle servo, etc. all get the same voltage (up to 6v max). The ReactorX is designed for the newest digital servos that require a better power system.

Don't get me wrong, the Arizona is still a great regulator. I used them for over 2 years. But now that I have stepped up to 8717's, I wanted a set up that could handle the current draw from these power-hungry servos. I know that the RactorX, as well as switching to lipo rx batteries, is more than up to the task.
