| Are you planning to re-use the motor, or just the pinion? if you aren't going to use the motor again, I'd suggest heating the pinion with a lighter or soldering iron and pulling it off with pliers (carefully). this will likely ruin the insides of the motor, so it's a one-way street.
Does it have a grub screw at the base of the pinion? Heat it with a soldering iron to liquefy the threadlock and have at it with an allen wrench.
If you intend to use the motor again, or you are (justifiably) afraid of boogering up the pinion, you should invest in a pinion puller (AKA gear puller). Your LHS should have them. I kicked myself a year ago for spending $20 on something to save a $7 motor, but I've used it countless times. While you're out buying a puller, stop by WallyWorld or Harbor Freight (Toys R Us for grown-ups) and get a 2" or 3" C-clamp for re-attaching the next pinion, if it's a press-on type.
The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain. |
