I am looking at the Big Bertha heli, I would like to install a .91 OS engine.

I am wondering what this heli can run for digital servos that are strong and fast, Futaba or HiTec? Also is the S9254 enough to drive the tail.

Also is it best to run a standard .91 or a pumped and reg. one?

Any plans on a torque driven tail?

I downloaded the manuel, it is one of the best refs. I seen yet

There's a bunch of good digital servos, I really like the Futaba 9452s, fast, strong and good price, JR has the 8717, which is the strongest and fastest servos you are going to see, Hitec's got the 6965s and 6975s, both awesome. If it were me, I'd put the Futaba 9452s in.

On the tail, the 9254 is a great servo. Engine wise, if you are getting an OS, stick with the non pumped version of the SZ, if you really want a regulated setup, a lot of guys send their new SZs to OMI and have him install a regulator with good results. YS also has the SR which is a great engine and is a regulated fuel setup.

thanks for your post.
The Nitro Dominator (renamed from Bertha)is our previous design & was designed for belt drive with either the stock tail or the CNC one piece tail assemvly.

The new 90 BAT Dominator is designed with interchangeable counter gear assemblies for flyers choice of shaft or belt. So if shaft is your requirement you will need to look at the new BAT design...The BAT 90 has 3.0MM frames & is the same design as the BAT 70 already on the site.
The frames for the 70 & 90 are same exact cutting pattern only the frame thickness is different with the 70 being 2.0MM. If one wanted to save some weight the 2.0MM frames would hold up fine. Hoever we feel the 3.0 frames do absorb vibration better.

Servo choice should be centered around high torque only with moderate speed of .15-.20 transit speed. Torque inch oz should be no less than 55-60 with top end the more the better. The Fut 9252 is excellent for a moderate priced servo.

Are you going to link the shaft drive on the site or is there somewhere where that can be added it to the order?

Also is the mount for the .91 the same or I should say a 2 in 1 mount?



Thanks for the replys guys.. Now I can plan, thinking about Brushless servos. But the digitals would work too..

The BAT 90 can be ordered with the shaft drive. I believe it is on the site that way. The NEW BAT frames are designed to accommodate either counter gear assemblies.

BTW you do not need digital servo's. There are many excellent quality high torque servo available at lower cost like Fut 9202 that work very good & are 30-40% less expensive then the digital & for sure the brush less ones.

The BAT 90 kits should be ready shortly.

So in the meantime I decided on BLS451s for cyclic and a 9452 for throttle.

Other goodies:
GV-1, GY611 W/9256 and 5.1v regulator, Berg 7p, Align 2 in 1. Rotor Tech 710s

Nice toys for the BAT 90 with a .91 OS and the optional torque tube drive tail.

Saving my pennys, even though our money is not worth much anymore

I wouldnt use BLS451's in a helicopter application.

Apparently they are not rated for heli used...well they USED to be until Futaba changed their specs due to a lot of failures.

Ive got a set on my fury and theyre spot on. hundred or so flights and not a hint of trouble

Another alternative is the 9255

Interesting the 9255 are not as strong and not as fast as the 9452 and the 9255 are more $ than the 9452.

But are they really rated for 6 volts? The places I have been only state 4.8 volts only.

Also my Align 2 in 1 will produce more voltage than the servos can handle. In the past I have burned out many servos that were not rated for 6 volts
