I bent my HBK feathering shaft and rather than replacing the shaft alone I put on an entire Venom 3DXL head. Got it all ready and when I spooled up I got negative pitch as I spooled up.

I realized that the grip pitch arms were in lead rather than lag causing reversal of pitch. Good experience overall. Rebuilding the head from scratch gave me alot more understanding and I found that nothing on the RTF HBK was locktighted. Feathering bar bent because one of the grips had backed off a good 1/8 inche.

Seriously, if you get a RTF, tear it down and rebuild properly.

I've got only a couple of weeks before leaving for flight school and I don't have time to wait for parts. I just want to get some flight time in but Jeeze, you just can't trust the factory build.

I have also put a Venom rotorhead on my heli also. I had gotten everything squared away with the head and now my tail rotor is only spinning nose left. I have checked the belt and tried loosening it, no joy. I have moved the servo and have re-adjusted the arm on the servo and still no luck.
But as for the head it works great so far and the parts are more available.

NDIcopterDR, i too had the problem of spinning, used suggestions from other king drivers and got nada...'til out of the blue another heli driver suggested chinese weights, 10t pinion and trex tail blades, haven't changed the pinion, but had done the tail blades prior, installed the chinese weights and now the tail is solid

used align ball kit, has 'bout a dozen balls and screws
needs longer screws think it was 2mmx20mm, my LHS didn't have it stock so i used 2-56 cap screws and nuts, 2ea with loctite

couldn't install balls on the inside due to clearance issue with control arm...oh the tail is flipped as for the rotor head on my king, going scale is why, just incase you where wondering why the tail was on the left side, hope this will help you out

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try. I have to goto the LHS for the blades and bearing set. I might try it with a set of Venom blades I have in the garage. I will let you know how that works.

Hey Thrstmech, I'm using a 10t and the tail seems to hold ok but I'm going to try the chinese weights as well, if anything just to reduce the load on the servo.
