e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > Trim and a level swash

Weather here has FINALLY been nice enough for me to FINALLY spend some quality time with the King.

When I have it spooling up to take off I notice it make an akward hopping motion. When it did get off the ground it lifted abruptly and drifted backwards, so I gave a click of forward trim and tried again. Finally did it so much that I ran out of trim.

So I held a little Forward cyclic when I tried to take off again and it lifted off smoothly.

I returned the trim to center and adjusted the elevator linkage to the length needed to set the swash at a slight forward angle - this helped, and the heli lifts off nicely now.

The heli balances well when suspended by the flybar. Left to right the swash is level, but its tilted maybe 10 degrees forward.

Is this typical?

If you can, cheat the battery a little further forward. Anyhow, a level swash is the starting point, not the destination. I doubt there are any helis out there that hover properly with a perfectly level swash. If it's only tilted a few degrees, then this is normal.

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

My 500 is about the same.

Shiz has a good idea.

I don't think this becomes a big issue until you fly upside down.

If you plan on doing anything beyond hovering setting up the balance of the heli is critical, getting the swash level is part of that setup. I would add weight, a bigger battery pack to the nose to get the balance right. When the swash is not level in forward flight you will get pitch up of the nose when you slow down and it make the heli rotor stall or stop lifting, when it shouldn't...
Let's just say you tip the swash forward 3* That can equate to an additional 5* pitch in the blades on the rear blade when it should be at 0* and your forward blade will have the opposite 5* less pitch causing the stalling effect... This is just another condition you don't need to fight when flying....
Setup is everything.......

Tom..... No "D" flying....

Jerry you say it hangs level from the flybar but it flies back on takeoff ... that doesn't sound right. If the heli is balanced front to back, it should take off decently straight up and only lean a little left. What battery are you using and how are you mounting it? When the motor is disabled and you move the throttle up, does the swash stay level while moving? It almost sounds like you have a link on the wrong servo arm hole.

If you lift with your fingers the flybar, the back skids should lift off right before the fronts. It should hang even, lift it near the main shaft by the flybar with your two fingers.I made a longer battery tray so my battery is way out front it works great and flys better...
