What pinion did you guys use with your Turnigy?

I used a 11t pinion, and it seems a bit slow and bogged a bit.

It didn't feel anything like on that video posted.

What was the setup on that?

All stock MT except 3mm cut off each main blade grip arm, 13t pinion, green turnigy e-500, stock blc-40, radix, white paddles, 3xjr285, 401/9650, r146ip, tp3s 2200v2, +-12.5 deg pitch, weighed 811 gms with the stock motor so it's not much different in weight from that.

I've been too chicken to try out the 15t pinion. I really don't think the plastic head can take that kind of abuse. I'm already surprised that my 13t MT hasn't self-destructed yet.

I have a new MT that I'm outfitting with the gold turnigy e-500, kasama head, green paddles, and a 14t pinion. I figure the headspeed should be ~3700 rpm. If that all looks good, maybe I'll bump it up to the 15t pinion yet (4000 rpm on the head).

I was using a Scorpion 6 V2, and will have to wait till next week to compare it with a 13t pinion.

The Scorpion seems to be twice as heavy though.

i am running a 11t pinion and getting 3000rpm head speed
i had to turn the throttle curve down to 85 % as after 6-8 flights the motor seemed to suddenly get more power as though it had run in
scared the s**t out of me when i turned idle up 1 on and the head speed went way above 3000rpm and i had only just fitted the green paddles

I'm getting ~4 min of 3D with the 13t pinion, which usually takes 1600-1800 out of a 2200. The packs get hotter than with the stock motor, definitely. I recall my temps were 230 on the motor, 170-80 on the batt and ~150-60 on the esc. Actually, I usually don't fly it much more than about 3 minutes at the high headspeed (3400) as it's just too fast for me to keep up with. But I like it! I've really tried to fry my motor, but it and the heli just keep begging for more. Best $17 I've ever spent on a heli, hands down.

i get approx 8mins flight with forward flight loops/rolls battery is warm motor is only just getting warm li-po is a cheapo 2200mah they work so well i got 5 more at $20 a time i can keep flying all day with 3 chargers going
if you turn the head speed down to 2900rpm you will get a little longer flight time

Great motor :)

Hi everybody.

I'm flying my MT with E500 motor from a few months ago and I am very happy with it. Good power at low price and low temp.
I am flying it with 3S A123 and 4S A123.

Flight times with 3S are more or less arround 8 to 10 minutes, and with 4S I haven't measured it.
I only fly it in FWD flights...

Best grettings from Barcelona (Spain)

Hi Hutu (from Madrid )

What pinion, throttle and pitch curves are you using? I'm using my MT with a Scorpion HK2221-6 v2, a 14T pinion and a 100 flat throttle curve doing some aerobatics (rolls, flips, tic-tocs, inverted) and I'm getting 5:30 - 6 minutes of flying (1850 mah recharged).

Regards

Nice surprise thegamer :)

Hi people

Nice to know you are from Madrid "thegamer".... Hope to meet you some day live

I am using a 13T pinion and usually a flat curve on both pitch and throttle curves. Sometimes I mess arround with curves just to play.
Few months ago I also wanted to buy the Scorpion motor but finally I decided to go for the cheap choice just to try and it and it's been a good choice, but I think Scorpion must have more power, specally for 3D.

Are you doing 3D with the A123? How many S?

I am planning to buy a 500 class heli to use with 4S A123 and Jamara has one that can fly good with only 3S lipo. Motor has been designed specially for this heli. I think it is a 4000KV motor.
Maybe I will buy a T-Rex 500 but I will install this new motor....

Or maybe I will wait for a 500 class version of MiniTitan

Best regards

Oscar
