Same as my thread from last year. The only different thing is my wife has a newer better camera. and my flying has progressed every session.

To anyone else that has fresh C-5 pics from this year, please post them.

After a long crappy winter of flying with gray skies, snow, wind, and rain. Today's weather was awesome! 53 degrees with a slight to moderate wind and a beautiful sunny blue sky. Today was fun.
This Caliber has almost 40 gallons flown and it still flies like new.

The other day when out flying I had a TR linkage failure. The owner of my LHS soldered a ball link onto the control rod and he even used silver solder. It held for about ten gallons. Anyway, I was hovering out in front of me having fun with upright piro activities. I pointed the tail towards me and immediately went into FF. The tail started wagging so I just kept on going from FF to FFF in a circuit about a 1/2 mile fat. I start to bank and add rudder.... .....Nothing, full rudder input...... Nothing. I then tell the wife 'I lost the tail' and continue to keep my FFF speed maintained and turned my heli in full 360 degree circuit with no rudder input. I got the heli nose-into the wind coming towards me and hit T-hold. Auto saves the day!
Just avoided a huge puddle on touchdown.
You can see the linkage failure in this pic and my tail fin in the edge of the puddle.
I will always thread the control rod from now on.

Now that's what I call practicing autos and the old bale out plan

Thanks OD, and yes, the building has begun. The C-5 will be completed and RTF for tomorrow. Well, as long as my kids permit me to finish.

Today was a open house funfly at my rc club. The weather was perfect all day. The wife came out to shoot some stills. About 100 people showed up with 30 registered pilots.
Here's a few C-5 pics from today.
