I never had to deal with this problem, but do you have a different ESC to try ?

I'm also running the Kora 15-12 with 21 pinion but I'm using a Jazz80 instead... no problems other than not enough power for my taste..

I have a Jazz 40-6-18...will that work for now..or even a little longer term...?

Jazz 40 will probably be borderline.
If you look at the end of my gallery, you'll see the eLogger chart for Kora15-12, 21t pinion, 4s3700 and SAB 425/60 gram blades. It only goes over 40 amps when I push it so I think it may be ok for hovering.

Maybe it'll at least tell you if its an ESC problem or a motor problem.

The spare Jazz 40 I have was originally on a T-REX running 4S So I figured I don't have to worry about Lipo settings. However, I heard that the Jazz can automatically "tune" itself for the motor connected to it. Is that true? I guess I can read the manual but I don't have much time to mess with this since I'm taking off for Vegas for the weekend. I just want to plug-n-play this test.

Yes, the Jazz will auto-adjust to the motor.
If you haven't changed anything as far as your tx/rx and ATVs it should be ready to go... I personally would go through the Jazz setup just to be sure.
