e-Hirobo SRB Quark - Lepton - XRB Coaxial > Hirobo 465mm Carbon Fibra Blade

Nice to chat to all Lepton fans here. I'm the new joiner of RR. I have flied my new Hirobo 465mm blade on my 6s Lepton yesterday. And came across that the tail is really out of control when I pop up the heli even with the 68mm plastic Robbe tail blade. And badly my main gear was totally strapped during the 2nd flight. So that's why I can't test it any more yesterday.

Any one have experience on this blade can share!!

My set up is:
Kora 15-16 motor / 19T / 6s2200mA / long tail boom / 68mm robbe tail blade.

regards and have a nice fly.

If you intend to 3D with that blade.... Sorry to disappoint you.... I've been commenting the main gear on the Lepton is too small even for the size of the stock 425 blades.... Not enough leverage for the motor to keep HS up on heavy loading.... Now provided the motor have enough torque, the profile of the main gear is not thick enough to endure the pressure being applied to it.... There's a guy that I fly with that have an Ion X2, that have double reinforced main gear, and still manage to strip his main gear on heavy loading, due to his powerful 12S set up..... On mine I instead switch to 400mm main blades and kept the weight light, to avoid that problem that same problem that disturbed me for some time..... Now I'm enjoying my Lepton much better..... It made quite an impresion on the feild today......

Thanks! Tail_BoomStrike

Your theory is absolute correct. I think that the main gear issue is less concern then the tail out of control. And just wonder why hirobo can launch this long blade for Lepton and seems that it is not possible to use it. Not sure whether 3s, 4s or 5s can handle it or not.

regards.

I also have a separate thread on this subject. My opinion is that anything samaller than 22T for the pinion is going to break main gears. I have from 18 T pinions and they are too small.

I also do not know how Hirobo is going to fit those 465 there without reducing the pinion...

Is it at all possible to double the main gear on the Lepton as the Ion's guy??

It is possible, if you have your own milling machine and have the material..... I have found a thread a month ago, I forgot the name of the site, where a guy milled his own 120T main gear for his HDX500.....

If he could read this thread, or even Microheli(they made a main gear for the Lepton. I actualy have one, but not any thicker than stock, and they still strip, if you don't tame your setup).... Maybe we could do a poll to see who's interested..... Now comes in the pinion issue...... But for some reason the Align 500 pinion is the same module, and taller..... We could make it to work, if we drill the "stop" on the top of the pinion, or I've seen a thread where a guy cut the main shaft of his motor to make it fit......

Sad to say it is not...... There's not enough room available on the frame....... The only possible alternative is if some aftermarket product maker release an upgrade that is thicker by half the thickness of the original profile thickness.... And use the Align 500 pinions..... That or like I mentioned earlier, homemade if one owns a hobby grade milling machine.......

I might try to look it up in different forums..... Maybe I'll find the thread again, and see if I could pm him and get his opinion about mass producing them.

I found the link for the homemade main gear, http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...ghlight=autoair

On another post on RC Groups he offered spare gears might be worth a PM.
