| on the belt, drive the system by rotating the clutch bell in the driven direction. If the belt walks away from the upper lip, that's good. Note in the instructions, they talk about rocking the motor in the mount to adjust tension and belt issues. If you can get it lined up so the belt comes just off the upper lip, you are in good shape.
Really, the best way to check is to spool it up under power, at low speed and observe the belt. In a perfect world it will float in the middle. These systems are well proven and reliable, unless not lined up. Once lined up, they don't have problems, except in the case of the gasoline motors which would cause the mount to sag under the weight of the motor.
IF the belt runs off track, this is what you get, notice the frames cut by the steel wire in the belt.
