e-Zoom, Shogun, Dolphin > EP100 Mishap Reason: too weak servos

Hi.
I just thought i'd share my experience with my EP100 pro. I bought a combo from Infinity Rc this January, and have been wery pleased with this little "wasp" . It flies very well indeed!

But! with the combo i got 4 "Pico Pro"(not GWS, i think..) 4.3g servos, i am not realy shure what servos these are, but they are definatly not up to the job.

Last night me and my bud's where flying in a sports hall we rent saturday nights. Everything was fine until it suddently dropped at least 2 meters straigt down and hit the floor hard! to my suprise there was no damage, and everything seemed ok So it wrote it off as a glitch. threw it around for 'bout 5 more minutes, then BAM! It hit the floor real hard. Broke the landing gear, and stripped the main gear. Not to much dammage, so it's a tough little heli ! But, the reason for the crash was obvious this time! Both the front servos where stuck! Obviously gears stripped. The rear (elev) servo was still working, but very "notchy".

So now i ordered three GWS pico BB servos, and hope they will do a better job. I could ofcourse gone hitech 55 or simmilar, but i would like to keep the weight down.

Well, just wanted to give a heads up in case someone else is flying this combo .

Edit: Ok, this should obviously been posted in the Gaui section. Sorry...

are you sure GWS servos fit? if you have ep100 it allow only 8.3mm wide servos. Have you checked that? What is width of your servos.
I alos got bored with "steppy" work of stock servos. They do step only each 3-4 clicks of TX trim. And looking for good/inexpensive substitutes.

Well, can't say i'm shure. But i got the EP100pro, and the frame/Servo mounts can be adjusted quite a bit so i hope the pico's will fit. If they don't i guess i'l just have to try some other servos. i just know for shure that the "stock" one's don't do this little gem justice .

I bought JR S185's for my EP100 Pro.

They fit (I did have to grind them a little) and work PERFECT.

Even have one on the tail too.

Well, i finally got around to putting the new GWS picoBB's on. There was absolutley no problem fitting them . And now the controls are a lot more positive and precise. So for anyone buying the EP100 Pro, don't use 4g servos, go for something 6g!

MMike: Isn't those JR's 6g's? Should be just perfect!

Weight = 6 grams

They work very well.

Torque= 13.1 oz/in
Speed = .06 sec

I did have to dremel a little.

It's interesting that you don't see more "buzz" on RR about the EP100.

It's a perfect $hitty weather heli for me.

My Son has a 200. Nice, but not as good for indoor flying IMHO.

Couldn't agree more! It's a realy good heli, and so incredible capable despite it's size. I had a hornet CP couple of years ago, and while at was kind'a fun to fly. It was way to fragile to be usefull for any "real" flying. This bird i throw around almost like my t-rex .
