e-Miniature Aircraft Furion - Razor - Ion-X > ION-X2 Best battery set up for the odd loop and roll

What I've got / will have:-

Ion-X2
Actro 32-3
CC HV110
SAB 710

What I'm looking for is a recommended battery set up (10S or 12S) etc. and gear ratio set up that will give me the best duration for my "style" of flying which is basically circuits with the odd loop and roll thrown in.

Absolutely no 3D intended as my reaction times and ability aren't up to it

Also what duration can I expect?

Thanks

I'm a sport flyer with loops and flips and such thrown in. I've used both 10s 3700 and 12s 3700 setups, and MUCH prefer the 12s. I go 5 minutes and charge back 2000mah consistently, so I guess you could go 7:30 min. I also have the 32-3.

Are there any mounting or balance issues using the 8000's on the X2(10S)? I was thinking of those as I just sport fly and would like flight time above all.

Which ones do I want, the "PL" or "PLV"? (Looks like the same capacity and cost, just different dimensions.)

Thanks, Joe...

Hello,

The 10S 8000 PLV packs are great duration packs for an Ion-X1 (not for the X2 due to mouting/balancing). If you want 10S in an Ion-X2, a set of 10S 5000 Extreme V2s work real well. Good luck.

I have the original ionx with a 32-3 and you can get about 10 minutes on 10s 5300 packs. They weight about a pound lighter and will be a noticeable improvement on the power to weight ratio.

Also as a side note, If your getting 15 minutes out of an 8000 pack then you are draining it at 4C or only putting out 32 Amps. The actro motor is rated at 100 amps max. Why is it that we seem to be putting out only 1200 watts. Shouldn't it be able to do at least 3500 watts?

What I want soo much should never hurt this bad

Hello da_man, I would consistently hit 2500 Watts peak with my old set of 10S 8000 ProLites and the Hacker motor. So yeah you should be able to get more out of an Actro 32-3.

Bladebeater, your first post asks about an Ion-X2 specifically. So the 10S 8000 ProLites won't fit/balance. For the X2, the 10S 5000 Extreme V2 packs are a drop in fit, balance perfectly and will provide you with plenty of power for what you are looking for. With a conservative headspeed I think 7-8min (maybe longer?) flight times are achievable. Good luck.

Would a pair of Kong Power or Air Thunder 5s 5000's work as well? I've got an X1 modified to fit lipos like the X2. I would think that the flight battery would have to go somewhere in towards the rear to balance out.
