I noticed the pivot ball being very tight on two swashes when I was doing the grip flip mod. With the swash off the heli, the pivot ball in the center was very tight. On the top and bottom of the swash I noticed the black rings had a little factory divet in them. I used the tip of an allen wrench inserted into the divet on the top ring. The ring turned but after going about 1/4 turn it would get tight again. That one spot in the 1/4 area the ball was free. Anything outside that area the ring would tighten as would the pivot ball.

Not sure about the design on this because once the helis run again, the ring is going to tighten back up. If you have 500 with some flight time on it, take your swash off and check it out. On a new or lightly used swash the ball moves free so it seems the ring is spinning over time and tightening down.

My swash is tight! Is there a fix for this?

Read about halfway into my post. There is a ring on the swash that rotates. I rotated the ring and found a loose spot and this is where the swash moved freely. If I found a tight spot on the ring, the swash was tight.

After adjusting mine it seemed to stay free. I thought it would tighten back up but it did not.

Does the "grip flip" provide any susbstantial performance increase that can be objectively measured?

I played with rotating the ring, but never could find a spot where the swash feels 100% smooth. I think the ring is just buggered up, possibly from having too much cyclic throw, because I can see some stretching around the upper lip where it was forced against the main shaft.

Is there a replacement inner swash, or do I have to buy a whole new unit for $40? Is there any aftermarket swash with less slop?
