Definately Nice,

one tip, i suggest you also loctite the 2 nuts that hold the grips onto the hub for extra security.

That's nice.
Another that I can't keep my eyes off is the BEAM one-piece tail case. That's hot.

It's a nice tail, but I found that if you tighten the locknuts completely, the tail grips will bind and not rotate smoothly. The grip length for the bearings needs to machined longer. I also used red loctite on the nuts in order to prevent them backing off. The aluminum tail with thrust bearings weights 6 grams more than the stock plastic tail.

It's not the grip length that needs to be machined longer, it's the hub that's not long enough. The problem with locktite on the nuts is that the locktite eats the nylon locking part of the nut. I dunno what the answer is. I noticed that after my 4 minute flight that one of my nuts had backed off a touch. I haven't decided on the solution yet. I need to take it apart to solve it and taking those little screws out of the pitch change mechanism is a pain. I may mess with it in a bit.

Yes, the portion of the hub that the bearings slide on to(the shoulder) needs to be a bit longer, creating one less turn of 3mm thread. A slight amount end play in the blade grips is ok, just back off the nuts about 1/4 to 1/2 turn until the grips rotate smoothly. The loctite will bond the steel nut portion to the threaded hub, and in previous heli's(Raptors and X-cells) I had no problems with loctite on nuts.

Thanks, I will use Loctite for those nuts. I've also never had problems with Loctite and this kind of nuts.

Speaking of nice tail -

WHy is the left side of the tail shaft (away from the blades) threaded????

Nothing threads into this, correct???

It's threaded so that it can seat the set screw that secures the pin to the tail pulley.

Oh I see - I had to think about that for a second.

Do we need to remove the set screw and locktite it??

I would (and did), but if you feel like having the screw come lose and losing the pin that holds the pulley, that's your call.

I went one step further. Like I did on my Raptors (after learning the lesson the hard way ), I grind a small flat spot on the retaining pin for the set screw to have more "bite". Once I line the flat spot up with the set screw, I add some loctite and put it all back together. It's just a little easy insurance for my peace of mind.
